Vinint to telus
Hey. We've had vinint for many years, it switched to telus and everything kept working. We did cancel our monitored service 6 months ago. The vivint app still worked for a while, could still view cameras and adjust thermostat. Now the app has died but the panel is 100% still working. If I get a new subscription via telus all current devices will need to be replaced? I asked at a telus store and they said the current gear won't be compatible. 2 cameras, thermostat, motion sensors, door sensors, flood sensor, front door lock, smoke alarm. It all works on the panel. Just wanted phone access.
What have others done?
Don't want police monitoring.
Prepared to pay a minimal subscription to get it working on an app, not interested in replacing everything. Will just buy an ecobee thermostat and some aosu cameras if this is a dead end.
Advive?

Hi. We decided to pull all the old vivint equipment and go with all new telus stuff. Sadly this system is nothing compared to what we had before.
The old system had the ability of seeing the cameras on the control panel, was great for the mother in law and visitors to see who's at the door that don't have telus phone app access. That's gone.. The rear lane camera used to have a scheduled loitering alarm. IE only active between 12 and 6 am, now it'll beep all day.
We were sold a honeywell thermostat that I can't seem to connect to the telus smart home app or panel.. I have to use the smart home PLUS app to view the thermostat. So not all in one app like it was before, and how I was told it would be, unless I'm just clouded with disappointment and can't see how this works.

Hi there, to clarify, when transitioning from Vivint to TELUS, the existing gear may not always be fully compatible with TELUS home security services due to differences in technology and systems. However, the good news is that in many cases, we can still provide a solution that allows you to use your devices with a new TELUS subscription, though it may depend on the specific equipment you have. Regarding the compatibility of your current devices (cameras, thermostat, sensors, etc.), you’re correct that some Vivint devices might not work directly with TELUS’ system. But if you’re primarily looking for app access and are not interested in police monitoring, there may be options available that don’t require replacing everything. I’d suggest reaching out to our TELUS Home Security team directly to check if your current equipment can be integrated with a TELUS plan without needing full replacement. You may also want to ask about options for a minimal subscription that allows you to manage your system via the app.
