port forward issues

Hello,

I'm trying to set the port forward on the Telus Wifi Hub (ARCA02238F96).

Like, for instance, I want to do the port forward on Private IP: 192.168.1.120 . The booster has IP: 192.168.1.95

I did everything & save. Then after 3 - 5 mins, when I refresh the page the Private IP keep changing itself from x.x.x.120 pointing to the IP address on one of the booster x.x.x.95

Anyone has seen this issue. Please advise

  • ok so i played around with it for a bit and it seems the telus wifi hub expects some sort of config update ping as part of the mesh network every 100 seconds.

the booster or hub (not sure which) seems to keep track of ports the booster owns and sends the update to the router to update the port forwarding rules.

the router also seems to cache the latest updates so even if the booster is offline it still updates the rules every 100 seconds

i was able to forward my ports by shutting off the booster, restarting the router, and then setting my ports. after i made sure the ports weren’t being overwritten i reenabled the booster and stopped touching it. hopefully that works for u too

note: i also turned factory reset and turned off the (telus) mesh settings of the booster at some point but can’t recall at what point in the trouble shooting process

  • I'm having the same issue. My wifi boost 6 is connected directly to my wifi hub via moca. Any new port forwarding attempts are hijacked within 3-5 minutes by the booster's ip address. I logged into the booster's firmware and can see that it is in bridge mode. I'm not sure what to do. Were u able to fix the issue in any way?

also im not sure if it makes a difference but my booster's admin page does not allow me to do any real port forwarding config or anything like that. I've included what the dashboard looks like

  • sounds like you have your booster setup in router mode.  Or it could be your telus router is seeing the booster as a router.

This can be resolved one of 3 ways...

1 - if you can access the booster admin page, setup additional port routing to the device that needs routing.

2 - reconfigure your booster to be a wifi repeater only.  This will make the router invisible to the network and it will not have a standard ip

3 - run a long cable to your device that needs the internet.  There are kits that can hijack old coax cables if you have those lying around

You should be doing port forwarding on your router, not the wifi hub. Have you tried connecting to 192.168.1.254 (should be the router)?

You can try logging into the GUI by entering 'admin' for the username and the password located under the lid on top of the gateway. Then under the Firewall menu at the top, select Port Forwarding, click Add Rule in the bottom right corner, enter the required port info, and click on Save Settings at the bottom center of the page. See if that works!
