21 days agoThanks for sharing your feedback. We understand how important picture quality is, especially for sports like NHL games. The viewing experience on the 24S digital box can differ from the Optik set-top box because the devices use different hardware, processing capabilities, and streaming methods.

The difference is glaring. the 24S is a seriously bad piece of equipment. It is an equipment problem not anything else, it's a wired connection on Telus Fibre 250 mbps up and down. Been on hold with tech support for hours and it seems like it is unfixable.

Poor picture quality goes beyond the 24s. If you go to the Telus+ app on your tv the clarity does not improve. This really surprised me. What this tells me is that the compression algorithm they are using at the source is too aggressive, and then they feed that poor signal into an inferior processor. I will really miss time shifting my F1 and hockey (another issue is that recording times can't be adjusted) but I just can't deal with the horrible picture. Cancelled Optik and am putting that $1000 per year towards app subscriptions. I suspect Telus will lose tv subscribers.

Hi 4eyetvguy, fellow F1 and hockey fan here, the old Telus 4K VIP was great. I have a new TCL TV fully loaded and I was always impressed by the picture quality. For. some reason I thought moving to the 24S was a good idea. I could watch recordings on my laptop or phone. That works but the bad picture quality is a deal breaker. I wanted to go back to my old box but Telus will not authorize my old box and are sending me a replacement. No idea why the box I was using can't be hooked up again. I am hopeful the replacement is as good as the old one. Not being able to extend the recording is annoying but I just record the next show or two after the race or game. The last tech i spoke to said they are getting alot of complaints for the same issue. I can't believe someone at Telus signed off the 24S and authorized selling it to us.

Is your equipment utilizing Wi-Fi or hardwired? Our platform doesn't have dedicated bandwidth so you'd be subject to network constraints (i.e. congested Wi-Fi = lowered quality). Since our platform uses ABR (Adaptive Bitrate), another thing to look in to would be Wi-fi boosts, higher speed, or fewer devices, etc.)
There's also SDR/HDR settings (Settings --> Device Preferences --> Display and Sound --> Match Content Dynamic Range) so that your TV outputs the correct DR. Was our Tech Support team able to investigate further?
