6 years agoI just learned Telus is migrating webmail to Gmail!
I suspect this is related to email issues Telus had in August but that's speculation on my part. I was trying to modify my Junk mail settings for Webmail and can't seem to find the settings to change...

OK, so I know many people who have received emails from Telus saying they're switching to Gmail, some people have done whatever is involved and are saying they can't continue using their MS Outlook on their PC's, anyone know what's going on?
One of my buds sent me the email Telus sent him, it looked to me like Telus is only switching to Gmail for web-mail, is this not the case?
I wanna know in advance since neither me or my wife has received this email, we're both retired Telus employees and have been using MS Outlook for decades.
- howes6 years agoHelpful NeighbourI'm using a Mac so I can't speak for Outlook, but the whole thing seems to be a mess. The only things that have worked for me are (1) you keep your email address, (2) you can migrate your bookmarks. On the other hand I haven't been able to migrate my contacts to gmail, nor will Apple Mail map to gmail. So essentially Telus has shut the doors on email, pointed you in the direction of gmail (which you could have done without them) and waved goodbye.Like you, I was in the telecom business for years and none of this is a surprise to me. Someone on this forum offered the excuse that Telus has made the decision it's not in the email business. You and I would probably describe Telus as a telecommunications company. Chambers dictionary definition of telecommunications is "communication of information in verbal, written, coded or pictorial form by telephone, computer link etc.." The same dictionary defines email as "the sending and receiving of written messages by electronic means."Either Telus or Chambers has its head on backwards. You make the call.

- howes6 years agoHelpful NeighbourAmazing! I tried this for hours on the day of migration and for a few days afterwards, and got nowhere. It kept telling me either user name or password or both were wrong. Now I do exactly the same thing and hey presto, I'm actually getting somewhere although it's still directing me to an old google account I'm trying to close. And the steps it's offering me don't match those on the Telus link - it doesn't ask me about my browser, for instance. Not for the first time it looks like Telus didn't dry-run their own instructions to customers to surface glitches.
- juwest6 years agoFriendly NeighbourTelus's decision to "transfer" to Gmail was strictly cost saving, as they did not want to enlarge their support platform....no concern over customer satisfaction whatsoever. UofA has the same Gmail support and it is wholely lacking and not user friendly.
- starchoice6 years agoLeaderFirst I’ve heard of this. Have not received any e-mail from Telus.

There are already several discussions on the move to Gmail on the forums. Telus is switching all email to Gmail. Webmail is just a way to access the Telus email through a browser. Users that have been moved to Gmail will now have to log in to Gmail using their Telus email username and password. More info on the changes: https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/telus-email-transition-general-information
Outlook should still work but users have to change all the server settings. For example: https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/set-up-telus-email-on-your-computer-using-outlook-2016-google. Advanced users may even get POP3 working if they know how to enable it in the Gmail settings.

"Webmail is just a way to access the Telus email through a browser."
Is it?
The mail support will be provided by Telus?
Am I gonna be able recover my email in case I forgot the password? Because if you mess up your Gmail....goodbye!
I know as I have an email that is forwarded to me after 10 years, yet I can't log in. No such support from Google.

So I have now migrated all of my email accounts over to Google
How do I disable my old Telus emails from Outlook and stop the most annoying pop-up messages telling my that my settings are out of date?

Remove / delete the Telus account in your Outlook Application.

Tried the first link and it Telus said "It looks like we can't find that page".
Now what to do and where to go?

It may be that they’ve ended the early access, now that they are in the midst of the rollout.
