3 years agoHas traditionally been 2 IPs. A gigabit switch will be the only way you can connect your router without messing up your neighbor's setup.

Yes, installed the switch today. Waiting on extra cat6 cable to test both networks simultaneously.

To save you a switch and cable, you can actually put port 1 of Telus router into bridge mode, then connect your router to that port. This way you'll have your own WAN IP while not affecting his network.

While this is true, some have reported issues port forwarding when connected to a bridged Port 1 though it could be down to specific programs that have the issues with that config. There's never been any extensive testing that I know of.
