PROMOTIONS CALLS

Has anyone been receiving phone calls from Alberta with the screen name Telus offering big deals and then sending you an email from [email protected] with a LOG IN button and then ask you for your 6 digit code?

They said that someone will call back to approve the order and to accept and then they will adjust the payment of JUST TAX.

RELUCTANTLY I paid the tax and the order number came in an email but from a telus.com account this time.

now they are asking for my cc and dl .

is this a scam or its part of the big deal days

  • 100% a scam. A common one. Not a Telus email as they end in telus.com. By clicking the link they sent and entering your info, you gave them your Telus login and password and the 6 digit code was what they need to reset your password. The scam often ends up with them ordering a phone, usually not the one promised. They'll send it to you and then when you complain to them that you go the wrong device, they'll get you to mail it to some random home or business in Toronto and you're out a phone.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MORE INFORMATION. Do not click on anything in an email that they send you. Call Telus directly. Do not call the scammers back on any direct number they gave you.

Call Telus at their real phone number, 1-866-558-2273, which is found on their website. Explain to them what happened and they should help you. I don't know if you'll be able to access your account or not to reset the password. If not Telus will have to do it.

As I said, it's not an uncommon scam. There are other posts here that indicate that Telus was able to help them out.

If the card was charged twice, check with Telus if both charges are from your current account, like if a new line was added to yours, of it the card was used to set up another account.
