Telus is running fibre to my doorstep in early 2021.

What type of modem is used?

Typically it's a T3200 (by actiontec I think?), but if you're getting Gigabit or 1.5 gbps service they use the Arcadyan Telus Wifi Hub (https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/article/manage-telus-wi-fi-hub). Not sure if it's spec'd to Wifi 6 or anything, but it's a decent modem. They will also install an ONT (forget what the acronym stands for) to convert the fibre signal to data for your modem, and a battery backup if you have landline service, so you can continue to receive calls in a power outage.
