I recently received an email from a company called "General Credit Services" claiming that I have an outstanding balance of $187.38 overdue on my Telus Wireline account. We haven't used any of Telus' services in the past 3 years, as we switched from Telus to Shaw in November of 2021. We haven't received any notification of this overdue payment since then and our My Telus account says that it is no longer valid.
I am trying to clarify with the customer service regarding this issue, but because my Telus account is no longer available, I cannot continue the process for reaching customer support due to my account and phone number no longer being linked to my account. I would just like to confirm the validity of this billing, what it's about, and why it has been billed to me 3 years after we've left Telus?
