Is it possible to switch the TELUS account owner?

Just Moved In
Hi everyone, I'm moving into a new apartment, and the previous tenant has offered me their TELUS internet. They claim that they could transfer their TELUS account to me by changing the owner name and stuff. Just wondering if anyone has come across something like this? Is it legit or a scam? Thanks!

Hello. There is indeed, and it's referred to as a Transfer of Ownership process. There are however a few stipulations, such as the outgoing customer contacting us and giving both your info and the OK to begin the process, having their account paid in full with no overdue balance, etc. When/If that occurs, a note is placed on their account so that when you contact us to get things rolling, our team can simply reference that note to verify and then go over everything with you.

As for when you'd take over, charges would start from the day that our team completed the transfer, and a billing cycle date would be set up as well. As always, we charge in advance and charge to the day. So for an example, if it was completed today Aug. 10, and you requested to have your billing cycle on the 15th of each month, when your first bill came to you in five days on Aug. 15, it'd be for the month ahead (Aug. 15 - Sept. 14) but of course our system would also add on the 5 days you've already had the service. Afterwards of course it'd just be the month ahead with each bill. Hope that makes sense!
