Originally ADT
This plug is hot/warm. Electrician thinks it is connected to the security system and needs to be replaced. I am afraid of fire hazard. How can I tell if it is the security system and is it safe to just unplug it?
That is the ac adapter for the ADT Security system. Mine is exactly the same and no problems. It was changed years ago and now looks exactly the same so I left it. The heat discolours it over time. Probably why 99.9% of AC adapters are black.

Hey Clottawa That plug does not look good. Where does the cable lead? To the electrical panel? Please call our ADT by TELUS team at 1-855-958-8181. Usually we want to provide help here but I want to be safe
I called Telus about another small issue when they took over ADT. They tell me that the system is no longer supported and want to replace the whole system and charge me 5x more than what I was paying monthly. Was > because I cancelled.
