How do I delete my credit card information from my telus

    In our backend systems, a credit card can't be deleted if it is tied to an active service as the primary payment method (such as pre-authorized monthly billing or active recurring subscriptions like Stream+). To protect our customers from accidental service disruptions or late fees, the billing system requires a fallback payment method to be established before it releases the current card on file. So we've got a few scenarios here:

     

    Scenario 1

    - if the card is automatically paying your monthly bill, you have to transition the account back to manual billing first or swap the payment method first.

    - Do this by logging in to My TELUS (desktop browser recommended for this) and navigating to Billing. Locate the Balance section on the right hand side and select Manage Pre-Authorized Payments.

    - To keep automatic payments active with a different method, select Update Credit Card or Switch to Chequing Account. To stop automatic billing entirely, select Cancel Pre-Authorized Payments (this reverts the account to manual eBill or paper billing...allowing you to then delete the card.

     

    Scenario 2

    - if the card is specifically tied to entertainment add-ons like Netflix, Disney+, or Prime Video bundled through TELUS, the billing runs on a separate engine.

    - You can log in to My TELUS (again, desktop browser recommended) and navigate to Subscriptions.

    - Under Manage Your Payments, select Manage Your Credit Cards. If you've canceled your subscriptions but the card details remain stuck in the system, this will require intervention from our team.

     

    Scenario 3

    - if you're on a Prepaid Mobile plan, the self-serve portal doesn't allow you to leave the payment field completely blank once a card's been registered.

    - To completely wipe your credit card details from a prepaid profile, you'll need to dial *611 from your TELUS cellphone and have an agent complete this for you.
