TV+ app on Old System?
Question from an old friend. He has PVR box with the built in recorder on the old Telus system. Complex will not allow fibre installation and also doesn’t want to upgrade. He wanted to know if he can install the Telus tv+ app to just watch programs (not record) on his smart sony android tv’s without having to swap to new system. If it is possible will the data be included in his account or will there be extra charges?
I am on the old system and can confirm the app shows all my subscribed channels as well as all the extra FAST channels. On a side note, the Android box is not available for existing Telus customers, only new subscribers.

My understanding is that the this will work. The only thing that won't work is playing back recordings from the PVR box.

The TELUS TV+ app can be used to watch live TV, on-demand content, and cloud PVR recordings, but a newer TELUS Android TV digital box is still required for full functionality, including access to all subscribed channels and features. While the app offers a great experience on compatible devices, some features may be limited compared to using a TELUS-provided set-top box.
Data used for the TELUS TV+ app is included in the internet plan. Put another way, using the TELUS TV+ app does NOT contribute to your monthly data allotment provided you're on the same internet connection as the TV account is registered to.
