Another updated TV box complaint…

So I regrettably updated my TV boxes to the new Android system and what a let down when you have high end TVs and the picture is way worse than the old boxes. On our one cheaper TV you can barely tell but 2 of our better TVs look terrible. It is not cables or anything like that and I messed with the settings but it is really just a cheap Android box that seems to compress the signal so bad it deteriorates. Has anyone tried just streaming the Telus app directly to the TV and not even using the **** boxes they supply?

  • Well it was fixed (slightly). The new boxes underperform so poorly that they swapped them out with an older version which helped a little. They are still no where near the viewing quality of the original boxes. After watching Netflix or Paramount etc streaming directly to the TV when you go back to the Telus box its like watching it in 720p. Paying a lot of money for poor video quality is not worth it in my opinion.

Not all channels or programs are broadcast in the same resolution. Some broadcasters still transmit in 720p (HD), while others offer 1080p (Full HD) or even 4K Ultra HD. The difference in resolution can be noticeable, especially on larger or higher end TVs, as they tend to highlight the limitations of lower quality signals.
