SIM card
3 TopicsIssue with number sim and number porting
I ported my number from Bell to Telus last night in store and it wouldn't activate. The store clerk told me to call Customer Support the next day (today) because they were closed. I called today using someone else's phone to find out there was an error when porting my number over and the issue needs to be dealt with by the tier 2 support team which can take 7-10 business days! I leave for the US tomorrow and I don't have a phone functioning phone (I got the US and Can roaming planning for this reason). Has anyone else had a ticket escalated to this tier and did it actually take 7-10 business days? I don't know how I'm supposed to work and travel without a sim card for that long.2.5KViews0likes2CommentsSim not working with a new phone in foreign country
Hi, I’ve been using iPhone 12 with the telus sim I have. I am currently in Korea for a month now and just got a new iPhone 15 pro. When I got to Korea I got a Korean pre paid Sim that just works for data usage, I used to receive messages from my telus sim and used the data with my Korean pre paid sim. But somehow when I try to use my Telus sim on the new phone I got, It won’t catch any signal and won’t activate. I’ve tried turning my phone on and off several times inserting the sim but it won’t work. I really need my Canadian number back on this new phone for some purposes and my old phone is totally broken which used to work just fine with the telus sim. Any ideas?3KViews0likes5CommentsNew eSIM and new phone for reception issues
Hi there, I've been having reception issues. I'm guessing that a new SIM card might not help, but it's been almost half a decade with the current SIM card, so I thought that I’d just get a new one. I also at the same time got a new phone. The SIM new card arrived, but I guess that you can't just put it into the new phone for it to work. Only my old SIM card worked with the new phone. I'm looking on the online options to change the SIM card yourself. I see two options: I want to transfer my number to a new physical SIM or an eSIM QR code voucher I want to transfer my number to an Android device I wasn't too sure which one to choose, so I called support. The person didn't understand what I was trying to do. He made it sound like he was only familiar with activating a new number and account, not just simply putting the new SIM card under the existing phone number. I read more about eSIMs, and thought that that might be better. I'm going to put the new SIM card aside, and wait for the eSIM voucher to arrive. Once it does, what is the next step? Which of the two options above do I choose to put the eSIM on the new phone? Do I have to call someone again, or go into a store? To recap, I have an old phone and an old SIM card. I now have a new phone, and I would like to put an eSIM on the new phone while keeping the same phone number. Best, JeffSolved5.3KViews0likes3Comments
