Re: Accessing Google docs
TELUS_Support are you saying that Google Docs is now accessible through a Telus/Google account ? If so I would like to hear more as I have an elderly neighbour who, as a member of a support group, has never been able to access a Google document invitation from his Telus/Google account. His calls to Telus support went nowhere. It would be great to hear that this issue has been resolved. A link to Telus FAQ on this would be helpful.6KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Accessing Google docs
Unfortunately, this is a "known issue". When Telus moved customer eMail accounts to Google Workspace they did not enable access to Google Docs or Google Maps. The solution is: 1) Create a normal Gmail account (yep ... a 2nd non Telus Gmail account) 2) When accessing Google docs .. ensure that you are logged out of your Telus Gmail account by going to mail.google.com in your browser and a) Log out of your Telus account and b) Log in to your new non Telus Gmail account. Downsides: Other than the annoyance factor (yes .. access to Google Docs *should* be grantable by the Telus Google Workspace administrators but may not actually be grantable due to Telus/Google contract, financial, or other reasons) you may find that if your Telus Gmail account has received an invitation or a link to a Google Document you still may not be able to open that document by forwarding the invitation to your new Gmail account. The reason for that is that access to the document is restricted to the original address of the recipient... i.e. the invitation was extended to the Telus Gmail account and only that account may open the document. There are workarounds: a) the document owner can CC the invitation to your new Gmail account. b) the document owner can, as the documents' administrator, grant access to the document to a list of contacts ... one of which would be your new Gmail account. That being said .. if you are using Google Docs for solely your own activities then simply managing those documents through your secondary Google account should work fine.5.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Regarding payment
Looking at the Apple.ca web site .. there appears to be a 3 to 4 week delay from time of order to time of delivery for iPhone 15 Pros Apple does not charge your payment card until the device is shipped. I am bit surprised that Telus would *but* they may have explained that in their Terms and Conditions when you made the purchase. Give them a call to see if you can have the charges deferred or credited back until such time as the phone is actually shipped.1.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: No Support for Hacking
End Point Security is your responsibility not Telus'. Telus provides Internet access which a) allows you to access "the internet" and b) allows "the internet" to access your devices if they are not well protected. The Telus hub in your residence has a firewall - turn it on and set it to "high". If you are a Windows user, your PC has a firewall and antivirus software builtin - make sure both are turned on and updated regularly. Ensure that the operating system software and any application software on *all* of your devices is current release and is updated regularly. Devices that are no longer receiving software updates or are no longer being supported by the manufacturer should be discarded or replaced. The likelihood that you are being "hacked" is not very high. Most "hacking" is done by state actors targeting other states or industrial infrastructure. That being said, you may well have malware on one or more of your systems, but this type of software is not typically installed through brute force attacks. Rather it is installed through subterfuge .. by persuading you to download and/or install the malware yourself. If that is the case then consider wiping your devices and doing a clean re-installation (back up your personal data if you can).7KViews1like1CommentRe: No hardline
OP is referring to a "landline" - copper wire telephone service. walkeri1 - call Telus directly to find out what services are available in your location. The door to door sales types are usually independent contractors and may not know the full range of services available in your location.2.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Copper to Fibre Optik.
Your intransigence is pointless. Once the fibre rollout is complete the copper infrastructure will be turned off and the copper wires themselves will be removed and reclaimed. The conversion to fibre is free. Your landline telephones will continue to work. A cell phone is not required. You do not need to use the internet if you don't want it. The only question for you is timing: how long can you defer the work before your landline stops working.3.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: refund
Posted tariffs for Telus long distance calls to Ukraine range from 20 cents per minute for calls made from a land line toI $2.75 per minute for calls made from a cell phone. Actual rates may be lower if you subscribe to a long distance package. You have been charged close to $20 per minute which is far above the posted rates. In may be that you called a Premium Rate telephone number. A Wikipedia explanation is here: -> Premium Rate Telephone Number For Ukraine this would be any number starting with 0703 or 0900. You do not say why you called that particular number in Ukraine but if you were induced to do so you may be able to have the charges cancelled or reduced by calling Telus and claiming that the charges were incurred fraudulently.1.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Migration to 4G/LTE network - a pretext to change Security monthly plans?
It appears that Telus' phaseout of 3G will not be completed until 2025. This is a change from the earlier date of December 2022. Here's a link to an earlier, similar, conversation on these forums: Telus security: 3G phaseout in 2022 "Act Now" The contrived sense of urgency ("offer valid today only") and the refusal to provide a copy of, or even a link to, the contract that you are being asked to agree to ... are red flags to me. I have not received a letter from Telus security, as yet. My contract with them has expired and I have been frankly curious as to what will be offered going forward and at what price. If your experience is any indication of what mine will be then my conversation with the agent will be brief.4.2KViews0likes1Comment
