Re: Internet usage
Usage that high is some form of data sharing or a particularly large family. As an example, 3 adults in my house streaming movies/Netflix, twitch, uploading to youtube and gaming, basically 24-7 is roughly 350-450 gb monthly, with occasional spikes when downloading a new game that's particularly large. I'd start with making sure you don't have someone in the household downloading/uploading entire libraries of games, movies or something else, as that can add up quickly. I would also assume every streaming user in the house is going to be consuming between 150-200 gb each. Otherwise your biggest hitters are running a website/server, network access storage or any equivalent style downloading/uploading, BTC farming or resource sharing is another big one, and all of the above but due to a nefarious program/virus or illicit access to your wireless.4.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Google Drive not working after migration
I have no way to test my theory as valid, but I think you may be logged in as a "TELUS google user" as [email protected] and you need to switch back to your "normal google user" account that the files were originally created on. For example prior to this lets say i was [email protected] and I put files on the gdrive then the TELUS migration happened and a new "google" user was created. So now you have two accounts you would need to allow your files on Panda1 to be accessible from XYZ.6.8KViews2likes4CommentsRe: Can you use shaw cable with telus internet?
It depends on the buildings infrastructure. If there is only fibre and/or copper then you would be restricted to an ISP that can run service over that medium. It's worth noting that some owners have signed contracts that allow for only TELUS or SHAW .. etc to run in a building. Since the owners own the building this would be or should be part of the lease agreement. If there are no such agreements and there is cable then you can have both service providers into the same unit. They will not conflict with each other. Note that any change to outlets should be approved by your landlord. The same goes for multiple ILS (in line of service) if you have multiple copper lines into a single residence you could have multiple lines of service, or multiple ISPs over copper/fibre. While I do not believe a landlord can tell you what provider to use, they can enforce what you can change structurally which can amount to the same thing. I encourage you to check your lease agreement and talk to the landlord or property manager.20KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Wifi keeps dropping
It's abnormal to be dropping consistently. I would look at potential things that could be blocking signal. Everyday things like device positioning in relation to things like fish tanks, microwaves etc can interfere with signals within the house. Less common issues could be the result of cement walls, tin siding or roof, or reflecting coating on windows or mirrors. You could try installing a scanner on your PC and see what it detects for signal line of sight/strength. There could also always be issues with the TELUS side of things as well, if you suspect that is the case I suggest you call in to the help desk (611) for more options.
