Re: Mobile Hotspot Routers - any feedback on NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro?
Nighthawk ... thanks for stepping up ... you must be talking about the Mobile Hotspot device '5G MiFi M2000' ... I see what you mean about "a fraction of the data compared to phone plans" ... oh well, I guess I'll just have to find a suitable replacement smartphone for my Samsung GALAXY S7 edge ...57Views0likes0CommentsRe: Thread Publish Issues
Hello TELUS Support Team ... I'm wasn't able to 'Publish' (two different types of errors, one pictured below) ... I wasn't even able to reach out to you folks via the Neighbourhood forum (until today) ... see screenshot of my attempt: ... it seems the trick is to Copy the body of any content created in this Neighbourhood Reply interface, Paste it into Notepad (to strip it of all formatting), re-Copy it while still in Notepad and then finally Paste it back into the Neighbourhood Reply GUI once more and Publish. I do not know what hidden HTML content / formatting is getting added by the T. N. interface, all I know is that this b/s wasted an awful lot of my time. The whole object of this effort was to publish this thread, 'Mobile Hotspot Routers - any feedback on NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro?', here.14Views0likes3CommentsRe: Mobile Hotspot Routers - any feedback on NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro?
Here's my usage case: As a 1GB fibre (w. u/l data) TELUS home internet services subscriber ($75/mo [$88.80, gross]) and as a TM subscriber ($72/mo [$80.64, gross] - w. 150GB/mo data [my plan said to support "5G+ Speed (up to 2Gbps)"], currently utilizing a very outdated Samsung GALAXY S7 edge phone [runs Android 8.0.0 & connects via Network mode: LTE/WCDMA/GSM]) .. also gets used as a hotspot while onboard a remotely kept boat. I thought if I was going to replace my phone, perhaps I could finally kill 2 birds (subs) with 1 stone (TM only), alas, upon review, I find that I consume upwards of 500GB of data per mo while streaming at home whereas the mo data consumption on the boat tends to be erratic, mostly nowhere near my mo 150GB limit but occasionally almost getting there seasonally. For those interested, the MHR h/w idea came from aussie Naomi Brockwell, in her video, 'No SIM? No Problem!' on YT.35Views0likes0CommentsMobile Hotspot Routers - any feedback on NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 Pro?
There are two amazon.ca reviews from Canada for this Mobile Hotspot Router. One reviewer ('AMN' ... 01NOV23) recommends an ext. ant. (the device has 2 x TS-9 Connectors) .. the other reviewer ('Talys' ... 15JUL25) goes into much more detail, closing with: "Currently, in Canada, I'm not sure that there is any mmWave; TELUS is only on Sub-6." This 21JUN25 reddit post talks about: "Right now only Telus has SA & the speeds are worse than LTE in the 2010s, nobody has enabled the 5G voice codec, & MM wave isn't even on any carriers timeline. Aside from 600Mhz which for the most part only Roger's has, my phone experience is worse than it was in 2018 with LTE" ... I found some of the follow-up replies to the above reddit post to be interesting. I can find no ref. to this MHR h/w in this forum nor anything about the 5G mmWave spec here or on the TM website. This MHR likely isn't my answer (my proposed usage case to follow as an Edit, or, as a thread Reply), given the current TM wireless plans offered, however, this approach seems more realistic now than ever before. This was TELUS Support's response within the initial Comments section: TELUS_Support Official Support Team 0639_DT 08OCT25 Hello! We've moved this post to a relevant area in the Neighbourhood instead of where it was. That filter is in place to prevent spamming / text walls, etc. Have you tried splitting it into halves = first half the original post, and the second half replying to yourself with 'Cont...' at the top or something similar?33Views0likes0CommentsThread Publish Issues
I keep getting a thread 'Publish' rejection / warning that the body of my post exceeds 2100 characters ... I've & trimmed & trimmed & trimmed again ... last was 1856 characters (per: https://wordcounter.net/character-count) and it still won't take. What's up?94Views0likes6CommentsRe: OpenVPN Client-enabling firmware overwrite for NH20A?
... thanks DrPacman for providing your synopsis of the nature of the dilemma I face and the two suggested courses of action ... I looked quickly at the Netgate pfSense Security Gateway Appliance ($ outlay not terrible and similar to decent VPN-capable routers, which, as you point out, don't yet have CPUs up to the enc/decr workload while taking fuller adv of today's faster conn's) and watched the MacTelecom Networks video you linked me to, however, to be honest, the vid author, Cody, flies through his presentation with the likely presumption that viewers will already have good familiarity with Ubiquiti Unifi ... I don't ... and would need to develop some fundamental familiarity by reading up and watching some (/ a series of?) prerequisite vids ... I think I'll first spend some time reading up on the Netgate appl and see what those are all about before committing to the Ubiquiti Unifi learning curve ... ... thanks Nighthawk for again providing relevant advice / observations so promptly - understood & appreciated ... I guess I'll continue to cast about for a different, suitable router (from my online reading, it looks like the better option [throughput speed-wise, anyways] would be a router supporting a VPN protocol that incorporates WireGuard [200? Mbps] rather than OpenVPN [40-60? Mbps]), then get back to this thread with an update ... K Mc9.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: OpenVPN Client-enabling firmware overwrite for NH20A?
Nighthawk ... I'm just reviewing the Ethernet port speeds on the cited Privacy Hero WiFi 6 VPN Router ... under SPECS, I'm seeing: Ethernet Port Type 4 Gigabit What may I have missed here ... if you don't mind elaborating please ... K Mc9.4KViews0likes2Comments
