Telus sent me to collections

Just Moved In
Hey,

So about 3 years ago, I switched from a consumer account to a corporate account. There was some confusion and Telus didn’t close the consumer account properly. Once it was closed, I was not told that there was a balance on the account as I thought it was closed before. I then went to Africa for 4 months so I didn’t get the bill in the mail. I come home to find a collections agency letter that Telus had sent me there. I didn’t even get a phone call or email to tell me about the balance? Now, I am trying to get a line of credit and I can’t because of this mishap. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You can reach out to TELUS and escalate your issue here. Remember the onus will be on you to have all your ducks in a row to prove as such especially a 3 year old consumer account.

There would have been some paper trail from TELUS informing you of a payment owing. Before it would have been sent to collections.
