Telus You suck!
I am trying to renew my internet service after the 2 year contract expired. We also have basic cable which I never use and want to eliminate. It is impossible to do this online, and the phone number for support is very well hidden. I eventually got it from a reseller. I called the number, and listened to AI try to get me to do it online, but you can't stop using a service online. You can only modify it. I waited for an hour on the phone to talk to a human. He was helpful, but had to redirect me to another person. I was then on hold for another hour. They offered me a better deal, but it wasn't what was offered online. Those deals are for new customers. As a loyal customer I would have to pay $78 compared to $60 for a new customer, for the service I wanted.
Also, our telephone line to the house came down in a windstorm the other night, as did our neighbors. We don't use a landline anymore, but the cable is in the street and still connected on the house end. I suggested that they just remove it completely. They said as I did not have an active landline, they would not send a technician out to clean up the wire in the middle of the road. I would have to hire an electrician and pay for it myself, to take the cable down from the house and remove it. I assume the neighbor would have to do this as well. The phone cable legally belongs to Telus up until it connects to the house. I think I will send them a bill.
I guess I am just old, but I remember a time when you could call a business, talk to a human without sitting on hold for hours, and actually get customer service. Thanks Telus for a wonderful customer experience.

Back in your day, you had a choice of businesses. Now we have megacorps that swallow every alternative choice up and you're left with 3 choices spanning an entire country, all of which collude with eachother to extort it's customers.

My experience.
Seems like all we can do now is air our grievances on a public forum in the hopes of someone in a position of authority can actually do something about it.
I wish you well sir.

@chris14 I wanted to clear up some inaccurate info. We will repair TELUS owned downed lines at no charge. We will only remove the line completely for construction/renovation purposes but there is a fee involved. We sent you a private message in case you want to move forward with either scenario.
