4 TopicsMissing PVR shows of scheduled series recordings
Hey Neighbours, I upgraded to the new Evolution boxes two months ago and entered my old series recordings. Some are Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Power & Politics with David Cochrane, FBI, FBI: International, FBI: Most Wanted, etc. Well, since the switchover from Telus 2.0 Box to the 4.0 Evolution Box, I've noticed that multiple days of episodes of Power & Politics will be missing, and FBI: Most Wanted will simply not record. It's happening to a few other shows as well, including PTI on TSN. Other settings are being ignored, such as choosing not to record reruns and only tape on one channel. I tape the Disability Law show on Saturday mornings and get it again recorded on Sundays on a different channel. The software or coding on the Evolution 4.0 Box was rushed to market. Does anybody else get this? I've called now twice to technical support, the first time they escalated my grievance to tier 2 and said someone would call me back (that never happened) and my episodes are still being missed. Today, the tech support agent told me that he would send a technician out after making a remote diagnosis. I said about my first call; he read the notes, then he said he could do more 'remotely' as this is the newest box out on the market 'blah blah blah.' After whatever he did, he had the nerve to tell me that perhaps the reason the shows weren't taping was due to me disconnecting the Evolution box or that the wires weren't connected. I said, "BS! How is it that the other 4/5 days of the week are taping, but now the 1? "...anyway, is anyone else getting this? I feel like returning the 4.0 box and returning to the 2.0 box is not worth the extra bells & whistles... I appreciate any help you can provide 🤓Solved8.2KViews0likes10CommentsEVOLUTION OPTIK TV REMOTE TV w/Amazon FireTV
Has anyone successfully 'programmed their remote with TV' with an Amazon FireTV? When I go to Settings>Remotes & Accessories>Program Remote w/TV>Search for TV Brand > I can't seem to locate either Amazon or FireTV; since the TV is essentially a ROKU TV, I do happen to find AOC (ROKU TV), ATVIO (ROKU TV), ELEMENT (ROKU TV), HAIER (ROKU TV), HISENSE (ROKU TV) <I know it's not this one), HITACHI (ROKU TV), INSIGNIA (ROKU TV) <I know it's not this one either), JVC (ROKU TV), MAGNAVOX (ROKU TV), ONN (ROKU TV), PHILIPS (ROKU TV), RCA (ROKU TV), SANYO (ROKU TV), SHARP (ROKU TV), TCL (ROKU TV), WESTINGHOUSE (ROKU TV). I have tried most of them but to no avail. Yes, I have called technical support, and they tell me that the box is 'Google-internet based,' so it is constantly updating, but I thought perhaps the #neighbourhood might know. Something tells me that when I bought the TV, Toshiba either manufactured it or reverted to the new model, which is manufactured by Amazon directly. And yes, I have also tried Toshiba, which has been unsuccessful. Has anyone had any luck programming their Amazon FireTV? If so, please let me know!!! 😫 😞 😤3.1KViews0likes2CommentsOptik Evolution Surround Sound Problem
After a couple of weeks with the new Telus Evolution, I noticed that I was getting little to no surround sound and even having to change my receiver to simulated surround mode just to get my sub amps to output. Using the Netflix app on the Telus box, I tested with a Dolby Atmos movie (war scene from All Quiet on the Western Front) and there is almost no sound out of the surround speakers - I can hear it a little if I put my ear to the speaker. If I resume the movie via Apple TV 4K through the same amp, which sends all signals to the TV via the same active 8K HDMI cable, I'm fully immersed in a war zone. I just ended a tech call to essentially be told that there is a known issue with the output of 5.1 and that there is no repair date noted yet. As I search online, I find complaints from 4 months ago for the same issue. They even advertise that the new Optik supports Dolby Atmos. How can Telus market this feature when they are well aware that it is not working? Totally deceptive. Every day that passes, I have come to realize that Telus is using us to beta test a system that is plagued with issues and a tech support team that appears to have little training on supporting the new gear. Come on Telus, get your act together. I didn't sign up to be a product tester.3.7KViews2likes2CommentsPikTV is now discontinued? must pay more to get Optik TV Evolution instead!
I am on the phone with a Telus agent regarding my issue with customizing our PikTV service channels. Apparently, this happens as PikTV is now discontinued as the agent told me. They now want to replace my service with a new technology which they call Optik TV Evolution for extra per month. Our previous contract is still valid and I don't understand why I can not use the previous technology that Telus has sold me and need to pay extra for something that not only being pushed by them but also offering features (such as recording) that I barely may or may not use.4.2KViews0likes2Comments
