The frustrating part is it’s been over a year people are commenting about this. They need to up the top layer on the sports channels to 1080p60 even if the broadcast is 720p60, I’ve spent a lot of time in development and I’m in IT this small change will make a big difference while they do updates in the backend to bitrate. Hey man, I’ve been very vocal on this forum about picture quality, unfortunately a year into my contract the non sports channels look great and even the 4K sports channels because they have a higher resolution window. The sports channels (ex. TSN1, SNW, SN360) run at 720p60 which is brutal it is quite literally worse than the Sportsnet app and TSN app on my 4K OLED. The non sports channels now run 1080p and even those are decent. I pay over 40$ a month in sports theme packs and to have this quality has been the most frustrating thing I’ve ever experienced. The kicker for me is that the Telus internet is top tier I have 1.5Gbps and it’s awesome. I really hope they wake up and even if the channels are broadcasting at 720p60 they need to increase the resolution to 1080p60 it will allow for less pixelation.1.6KViews1like1CommentRe: TELUS TV Feature Updates - Ongoing
Honestly so disappointed in this dev team. They need to up it to 1080p so it doesn’t look pixelated and just for the bandwidth even if it’s broadcasted at 720p60. The pixelation is brutal and I’m a year into my contract. Brutal. Hey guys, Seems like the recent Q4 2024 update included a picture quality update. It says HD channels at 1080p and sports channels at 720p60, are you guys noticing the difference at all? Hey guys, I’ve been paying for almost a year and the picture quality mainly on the regular hd channels is horrendous still. Watching the playoffs has been the last straw for me. Sportsnet+ provides a less pixelated feed. The 4K channels they look decent, I think Telus has a future with this platform but not at this time. Just a FYI for future people that they won’t let you cancel after the 30 day period even though they can’t provide a 1080p feed on the HD channels (this was said on the forums that they use 720p when broadcasts are in 1080p/i.)
