Re: Fibre 3g throttled upload speeds on VPN
I am not sure what is happening. I am trying to connect to my computer from a remote computer on a specific port using wireguard. I have been in contact with my VPN provider and verified the connection and iptables firewall rules with them. I have also put the telus equipment is in bridge mode and forwarded the ports in my router. the device I'm trying to connect to shows listening on all IPs for my port. But nothing can connect. I would love for this to be something I have mis-configured but I am not sure where else to check. Is it possible to somehow get in contact with someone at Telus that can verify my account doesn't have anything blocked? I can't seem to get past the chatbot, support webpage click maze. Hello community, I noticed that this week while I am connected to my VPN provider that my upload speeds seem to be only capable of 10Mbps. I am subscribed to 3G with unlimited data addon. When disconnected from my VPN I can get near symmetrical speeds (3000Mbps). As I mentioned this is only in the past week or so, prior to that I was able to get those same symmetrical speeds while using my VPN. Is there some where I can check if Telus has made changes to my account? It seems like many posts here and other places online someone will comment that Telus does not throttle like this, but in this case (if it isnt my VPN provider, I am waiting for their support to respond) it seems like Telus is controlling how I use the internet.947Views0likes2CommentsRe: reception degraded after new Pitt Meadows Amazon warehouse construction
Sorry I did not respond to this for so long. In the end I enabled wifi calling on my device and this allowed for more stable calls to be made. I also reported this at telus.com/outages. I think in the past month or so I have noticed more bars on my mobile network, but I have no interest in turning off wifi calling at this point. Thanks for your responses.1.2KViews0likes0Commentsreception degraded after new Pitt Meadows Amazon warehouse construction
I am pretty sure that my cell reception has gone from 100% full bars to 1%~10% (phone enter 'emergency only' call mode) since a large Amazon warehouse was constructed between my home (in Pitt Meadows) and the nearest tower. There must be some sort of interference Is this something that would be addressed by telus somehow? I am sure others must have this issue. Or should I just live with this? change service providers? Calling from my home is literally impossible now.2KViews0likes3CommentsRe: 10G Router, 10G NIC, Cat6A cable on 3X Purefibre plan only getting 1G
The tech did some tests and communicated with the back office, they determined that something is slowing things down. The test was directly from the techs laptop to the (telus supplied modem/router) demarcating my network out of the test. They maxed out (while I was looking) at 1.8gbps with their own laptop, later test that I didn't see was at 2.2gbps. They left saying that there must be some issue with the hardware they were using and or the modem or something external to my network. They explained that the 3X service is not designed for single link speed at 3000mbps and instead multiple devices/clients. It is a bit frustrating, im not exactly sure where to take my issue now. If the tech cannot reach the advertised speed then why would they expect me to? I am debating going back to 1gig service.5.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: 10G Router, 10G NIC, Cat6A cable on 3X Purefibre plan only getting 1G
Thank you!, eventually (after literally ignoring the chat bot on the phone) a real agent answered and I was able to get it escalated to the backoffice (after 40m). Now I am expecting a tech visit (and hopefully not 150$ bill).5.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: 10G Router, 10G NIC, Cat6A cable on 3X Purefibre plan only getting 1G
I checked the SPF module in the modem and it is XGSPON, and should be capable for 10G speeds as well. Nokia 3FE46901AA Compatible TAA 10GBs XGS-PON ONU Transceiver. I upgraded all cabling now to CAT 6A Speed is faster but still not 3000mbps advertised. Retrieving speedtest.net configuration... Testing from TELUS (66.183.208.46)... The virtual assistant doesn't seem to understand what I am trying to do. I will say, my previous provider had much better support than what I have received with telus so far. Does anyone here know if there is a number/email that will reach someone that can confirm that it is even possible for me to be getting the 3X speeds?5.5KViews0likes0Comments10G Router, 10G NIC, Cat6A cable on 3X Purefibre plan only getting 1G
I am pretty new telus subscriber, I was happy to hear they offered 3gig speed. However I am pretty confident I am only getting 1GBE speed now. How can I verify before contacting support? According to ookla speedtest I am getting nearly symmetrical 1g up/down. The equipment supplied by telus has a 10g LAN port which I am using to connect via CAT6A (over about 10meters) to an tplink er8411 router, into SPF+ 10G configured WAN port. From there I have a system with 10GB NIC connected to another SPF+ 10G configured LAN port. This link is via CAT6 (but the cable is less than 1 meter and so should be in spec to carry 10G) My account shows 3X plan. But I am getting the following results: Retrieving speedtest.net configuration... Testing from TELUS (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)... Retrieving speedtest.net server list... Thanks for your reply, I am not sure what was slowing things down, I may have jumped the gun reporting a speed problem. It seems to have cleared up after 24h. I think it was the specific servers I had connected to while testing the VPN and other protocol speeds.7.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Some traffic seems slower than others
Right, but agreement I signed says they will limit several things, including speed if they deem me to violate that vague agreement. All of section 11 seems to be covering any scenario that the provider wants to limit speed for any arbitrary reason. I am happy to report I am getting expected speeds now.7.7KViews0likes0Comments
