Re: Cannot Manage TV Channels
On the web, there’s an option to “Manage” my TV subscription, but when I go there, there’s simply no option to actually make any changes to my channels, and there’s a note that actually tells me I have to call a given number to do that. On the mobile app, it simply says it was not able to load my channels, with an option to “Reload”. Touching reload simply brings back the same screen saying it’s not able to load channels. This used to be readily available on the Web application, and it’s frustrating that we seem to going backward, rather than progressing, in this regard. I am unable to manage my channels online, whether I use the My Telus Web interface or the App. Through the Web, I click the "Manage" link next to the TV service on my account, which brings me to a page that lists the details, but I don't see all the channels, and there's a link telling me to call a number to manage my channels. This is using Safari on a Mac. [mod edit - private information shown] Through the mobile app, I see a tile that says my service information could not be retrieved. Hitting Reload simply brings me back to the same screen. This is on an iPhone. Anyone else experiencing the same issue ? Is calling the number the only way forward ? This used to work flawlessly before. Thanks. Fred870Views0likes2CommentsRe: How to set Digital Box Volume - Optik
I have both Slimline and Slimline2 remotes. I'd definitely like to know how this is done. And thanks for the answer to my "why" question. I thought maybe the 25 setting for the volume disabled the "normal" function of the "Options" key when programming. Because one thing I noted was that the Options key brings up some kind of a menu, and if you continue to program the remote while that menu is active, the programming does not seem to work. Found a solution from a Youtube video - code 0021 works. What's interesting, though, is that the same code worked on my HiSense, Sharp and TCL TVs, and it works on both Slimline and Slimline 2 remotes. The only quirk is that on the HiSense TV, in subsequent use, you have to hold the Optik power button for 1-2 secs, till the status light on the TV starts flickering. Once it does, release the button and both the receiver and the TV power on. Same thing when powering down - give it a sec or two. Hopefully this will help someone.4KViews0likes0CommentsHow to set Digital Box Volume - Optik
In the instructions for programming a remote for Optik TV, the first step is always to set the volume on the digital box to 25. I have two questions: 1. Why is this necessary ? 2. How do you do it ? As far as I can tell, there's no way to get the Digital Box volume displayed on your TV before the remote is programmed to control the TV, so how do we know what the Digital Box volume is ? Grateful if anyone has answers. Thanks, Fred6.8KViews0likes3CommentsRemote Code needed for Sharp 4T-C55EL8UR
I have a new Sharp TV (model 4T-C55EL8UR) and trying to set up my old Optik Slimline remote to work with it. Tried all the codes for Sharp TVs and HiSense (apparently HiSense has acquired Sharp's TV business in Canada and the US) in the Optik TV support document, but can't get any of them to work. Anyone have a code that might work ? Thanks. FredSolved4.1KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Telus email accounts not working on new MacBook Air
Ok, I got it working on the iPhone 14 Plus as well. Here's what I found - on the Account page in Mail settings, touch SMTP, then the smtp.gmail.com entry. Here - Server - toggle OFF Actually enter the user name and password, including the telus.net domain Toggle Use SSL ON Touch Done It verifies your entries and ticks them off as it goes. Back on the Account page, under "Incoming Mail Server", ensure user name and password are entered, again including the "telus.net" domain for the user name. When you then touch "Done", it verifies the values and ticks off the entries as it goes. Once all this was done, I went back into the Mail app, and Voila! it connected and is working fine now. Hopefully, this helps you.11KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Telus email accounts not working on new MacBook Air
Well, my test on the iPhone 14 Plus did not connect, but on the Macbook Air (Sonoma 14.2.1) it worked. On the iPhone, it kept telling me it needed a password, although I had already provided one. So that one still needs some research, but everything else is working now. Not sure what Google is referring to as "Less secure", but it surprises me that Apple's client is considered "Less Secure" 😀. Also still find it odd that Mail had no trouble setting up my Gmail account, but then required all this tweaking to get the Telus mail to work.12KViews0likes1CommentRe: Telus email accounts not working on new MacBook Air
Hello Mainframe, Tested, and it does work. I already had the "Less secure Apps" setting turned on, and did reset the server names, but I think what I was missing was the "dot com" at the end of the gmail servers, and had left them at ".net". Will need to try this on my wife's iPhone as well. We shall see. Thanks. Fred12KViews0likes0Comments
