Re: Sending from email alias on android
I have it set up on Thunderbird just fine. I'm talking about my android phone. It will only reply from my main email, not an alias. This is using the Samsung email app, not Gmail (which won't set up on my phone for some reason, just keeps sitting there verifying settings and not actually doing anything). On my android email app, the setting show "email address" as well as the account email address and password. But it doesn't allow me to edit the email address.4.5KViews0likes0CommentsSending from email alias on android
In Thunderbird email, I have it set that any email received to a specific alias automatically selects that alias as a reply from address. However, on my android email, the only email I seem to be able to reply from is the telus log-in account email for gmail. How do I make it so I it can reply from my alias? I have the alias set up and enabled in my telus gmail account, etc. but it won't let me change the name/email on my android email to an alias (and leave the gmail account email as the log in).4.6KViews0likes5CommentsRe: SMTP timed out
Thought I would update. It appears I had AUTH2 authentication in the pop section of Thunderbird and "Normal Password" in the other. Once I put them both as AUTH2 it worked. Geez. I don't know why Thunderbird doesn't have a setting that says "use same login for smtp and pop" like other email clients do.2.8KViews0likes0CommentsSMTP timed out
After much headache, I managed to get my telus email migrated to gmail and set up using pop3. Been using it for a couple weeks now. All of a sudden, it gives me one of two errors: 1) Server timed out (if I try port 465) 2) Keeps asking me for my password (port 587) but says it's not correct even though I can log into my gmail account (telus webmail) using that password. I've found both those ports as options for pop setup on gmail. I had 587 originally. Is there some setting I'm missing? I had had to change my password as I got confused as to which google account I was using. This is using the Corporate Telus one, not my personal one. I think that's correct? I'm not even sure anymore which one I was supposed to be using. I'm using Thunderbird email.2.8KViews0likes2CommentsRe: POP email migration not working properly
What bothered me is that the only suggestion to migrate your account was an IMAP one. I spent hours trying to copy emails on Thunderbird between the two account types (from my POP3 to my new IMAP) and in the process ended up deleting a bunch. There was no information on how to keep a POP account at all which is what I prefer. I'm not moving between devices -- I view and respond to my emails on my laptop. I managed to get it to work thanks to google etc. but it took awhile. I feel bad for those who are not google-proficient and esp for those who are like people I know who are not tech savvy at all and had a POP account and ended up with IMAP and don't know the difference. Not very well planned at all. I hope they send out a survey about "How did the email migration go for you?" and I'll be letting them know!7.6KViews0likes0Comments
