ADDING POE Outdoor Security Cameras
I have a Telus Security System but the cameras they offer aren't the best. I want to add better quality cameras that are compatible. Preferably 8-12 MP. & even better are POE. I have cameras in mind as well as a 4-8 port POE SWITCH. Can this be done & will the image from the cameras be available on my Telus app. 🤞🤞616Views0likes0CommentsRe: WiFi 6 2.4 Ghz or 5.0?
Sorry, Hope this fixes the copy & paste post(s). I was replying from the link in the e-mail notification I received, NOT from the reply prompt on the website. Lesson learned.🙄 Update, I signed into my Wi-Fi 6 (Technicolor Egyptian Blue) and the page I was presented with showed the option to enable SmartHomexxxx(2.4GHz) or SmartHomexxxx(5GHz). I enabled 2.4GHz and used the password it provided. Now when I select Wi-Fi on my device (Mac, iPad, iPhone it shows 2 Networks. I can only select 1 Network at a time so I'm hoping while I'm using the 5GHz Network (much faster) the Smart Devices are able to use the 2.4GH Network in the background. Not sure how that works.🤔🤔 Regardless, thanks for any and all assistance.7.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: WiFi 6 2.4 Ghz or 5.0?
dg, That might be the solution but I'll wait for the next time I have a Telus Tech to the house. I'm quite sure that if I start changing settings, I'll end up with no internet, no TV and end up on the phone with Telus for days. It's happened before and I get angry just thinking about it. Thanks for the advice, Stainless Sent from my “iPad 5”7.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: WiFi 6 2.4 Ghz or 5.0?
I’ve got the new Network Hub but I’ve been trying to install a couple of wi-fi plugs that Telus list as “compatible” but they won’t connect. Had a tech tell me unless your system is 2.4 they probably won’t work. As a matter of fact, I read the literature on a plug for another system and it says that if it doesn’t connect the chances are your system isn’t 2.4. Love the new wi-fi 6 but this wasn’t a problem I was anticipating. Stainless7.5KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Internet Speed
xray, After this reply on Monday I used Fast.com as well as Telus's speed test 3 more times before going to bed. Every-time, on both sites my Wi-Fi speed was 200-215 download & 150-160 upload. Went to bed & since Tuesday morning I've used both sites at least a dozen times and am back to 85-90 download and upload. DUH! This is where it's tested for 3 years. Logged into my modem but couldn't find where you could run a speed-test. I'll try again tomorrow.9.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Internet Speed
xray, I'm not sure how to log into the T3200M directly. I've just been using the speed test on the Telus site itself. Having said that, it's like someone at Telus is reading our texts because I'm now testing at 200/150 on Wi-Fi and 315/250 on wired! If this keeps up I'll be extremely happy since I've never seen over 100.9.3KViews1like5Comments
