Re: Too many chimes (Motion sensors chime when alarm is not activated)
Unfortunately, on the Neo panels, the end user can only turn chimes on and off on a system wide level by pressing and holding the "Chime" button. To turn it off on individual zones, it has to be done in system programming and requires the installer level access code. Motion detectors should be programmed as an interior device so by default the chime is disabled. If they are programmed as delay zones, then the chime is enabled. A technician will need to see how it is programmed and either change the zone definition or the zone attributes.5.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Home Security - ?cellular backup during power outage?
If you have the Qolsys IQ Panel (what Telus uses for 99% of their home installations), that system uses cellular as it's primary means of communications. The internet connection is the backup. It also uses the internet for software updates and other maintenance functions. So, if the power goes out, yes, the system will keep running on it's internal battery and it will keep communicating via cellular. You will get trouble notices that the a/c power is off and that the wifi connection was lost.5.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Can you have two Telus 15 internet plans/modems in seperate parts of your house?
Shouldn't be an issue but may take some convincing of the agent you speak with. My wife and I work from home and fibre is not an option in our neighborhood. We have two 25Mbps services (into the same router though) to handle Optik TV and the internet speeds. They should be able to install two services if you're willing to pay for it.8.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Outlook 2013 not working properly after gmail migration
So I've done some more testing and here is what I found: Receive mail on phone - delete without opening, Outlook will download message Receive mail on phone - open message but do not delete, Outlook will download message Receive mail on phone - open message, reply but do not delete, Outlook will not download message Receive mail on phone - open message then delete, Outlook will not download message. It appears if I do anything more than read the email, Outlook will not download it.4KViews0likes1CommentOutlook 2013 not working properly after gmail migration
I use POP3 for my email. Before the migration, I could see the email on my phone, reply to it, and delete and then when I get home, download the same email into Outlook and it would then remove it off the Telus mail server. Since the migration, this is no longer the case. I appear to be receiving all of the emails to my phone but when I open Outlook, it seems to pick and choose which messages to download. Just looking at my Inbox via webmail and today alone I had emails at 7:00am, 7:01am, 10:00am,11:00am, 11:01am and 11:30am. They are all on my phone but Outlook only downloaded two emails today (7:01 and 11:30) and nothing from yesterday. It's like if I look at the email on my phone, Outlook won't download it, but only sometimes. Looks more like IMAP than POP but I have IMAP disabled in Gmail. I tried turning on the "delete telus.net Mail's copy" in the POP settings in Gmail but then once I access the email on my phone, it removes it from Gmail completely. Google's POP settings don't seem to work the same as Telus' used to. Any ideas to get it working the way it was would be greatly appreciated.4KViews0likes2CommentsHow to setup an incoming VPN
My wife has a home based business and recently hired an employee that will be working remotely from their home. We have been using TeamViewer to access a spare computer but are looking for a better setup, thinking of a VPN. I have read that the T3200M can be placed in bridge mode and then connect a separate router to LAN 1 keeping the Optik TV boxes connected to the Telus router. Are there pros/cons to this setup? We have a bonded service with two 25 Mbps circuits as fibre is not available in our area. What are some recommendations for third party routers? I have done basic router programming in the past but a VPN setup is new territory. Trial by fire I guess :)2.7KViews0likes0Comments
