Recordings disappeared when channels were dropped
Our recordings that we “taped” from Magnolia disappeared from our cloud drive after Magnolia (and a few other channels) were dropped on January 1. Yes, we understand that this is due to a Corus Entertainment licensing change, but Telus should be handling this better. Questions: 1) Why was there no warning from Telus that this was going to happen? Shouldn’t everyone who subscribed to those channels be given an email in the days/weeks ahead that they would be losing access to channels AND recordings? To access them now, we now need to pay EXTRA by adding a new subscription to our bill, namely, Discovery+. 2) Will there be any financial compensation to customers for losing content that they were previously subscribed to? Currently we are subscribing to several theme packs but now those theme packs are missing channels that we frequently watched: Magnolia, Discovery etc or are “repackaged” as Home but not carrying the same programs. At the very least, Telus should be offering free Discovery+ subscriptions since a lot of that content is now streaming on that platform…so now we have to subscribe to that TOO on top of the multiples of theme packs that we are already paying for? What is the point of subscribing to any cable theme packs if channels and content will be removed without any discount given to the customer? Shouldn’t the 2 year contract cover the channels that we agreed to - which means Telus now owes us a free Discovery+ subscription now? Telus, you need to come up with a solution to this mess. I’m paying the same amount per month for less content, and some of that content was a large chunk of what we regularly watched.1.4KViews1like2Comments
