Re: Let’s tackle the new kid on the block - PureFibre X Internet 3G
ChristoGM Unfortunately no. If you are on a XGS-PON service package, authentication is done with both the SFP and the NAH as a combination against TELUS' network (PPPoE). There are ways to eliminate the NAH altogether but that would require purchasing a customizable WAS-110 SFP+ with custom firmware on it. Long and short of it is, you clone the NAH into the WAS-110 so it verifies itself on the TELUS core network and appears as it would have when TELUS initially installed the service. I think there are marginal performance benefits bypassing the TELUS NAH switch. Going the WAS-110 route is a bit cumbersome and has a cost. Most people would just configure the NAH in bridge mode, then on to their own equipment and be done with it.380Views0likes0CommentsPureFiber 3Gb Technicolor NHT20 (admin access)
Hi Folks, New recipient of the TELUS PureFiber 3Gbps service. I was pretty excited to get this service installed and up and running. The technician finished yesterday and I was all giddy to get into the configuraiton sections of the NHT20 to apply my preferred settings like DNS. After logging in, I've noticed that the NAH is completely locked down. You can't change from TELUS DNS to say Cloudflare or Google. What's the deal with that? I also noticed that in the "diagnostics" section, that TELUS Secondary DNS is unreachable by ping. God forbid the primary DNS server doesn't die. So my hope is 2 fold. First is to resolve against a faster more secure DNS like Cloudflare or Google and second is to remedy the missing secondary DNS resolver. It just doesn't exist. Is this a known TELUS issue? Should I open a ticket? So as of right now I can't change a single thing. I could set the NAH up in bridge mode and use a proper "router" but I'm limited in space in my media panel to house an extra router. I'm also investigating if its worth pulling the SFP out of the NAH and connecting it directly to my own gear. Yank the NAH and use it as a paper weight. Would welcome comments on anyone who's tried this. Oh, and I'm on a Technicolor NHT20. I hear the Arcadyan is configurable unlike the Technicolor. Thanks to all. StokieDSolved3.5KViews0likes5Comments
