Re: tv apps stalling
Update on my issue - turns out it is more of an issue with my Samsung TV and 5G! I picked up a Roku Express 4K - and streaming on it is just fine. In case anyone is interested, I have a 65" 2019 Q60R 4K Smart QLED TV. I tried wifi and direct connect with a lan cable.3.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Telus Pure Fibre - info mailed to my personal home address
I work from home and watched them install fiber on the poles here 4 years ago - and I still can't get connected to it! Yes, I am rural, but there are people way more rural than I am that have been on fiber for over 4 years!2.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Internet Plans Not Available at our Address
Interesting way you phrased that - So how does one get Telus to run a drop to our homes? Fiber was installed on the poles here 4 years ago now, it's 50 feet away from the corner of my house. I get the same reply from Telus as dwoodbury "Sorry, fiber isn't available at your address..."2.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Long Range WI-FI on 5G modem is no where near what my DSL modem had.
T3200M, WI-FI would work down to my barn, the smart hub doesn't. Granted, I had it in my corner window of my house, same as the smart hub now. So yes, I can see my barn from my window, line of site. Would an extender help? We also have a trailer that sometimes when we have guests, they could connect to wi-fi - but can't now (it's closer than the barn).3.8KViews0likes1CommentLong Range WI-FI on 5G modem is no where near what my DSL modem had.
I have a Telus Smart Hub (model ZTE MC8010CA) set to "Long Range" in the WI-FI settings. Why did my old DSL modem have a longer range? I'm on 2.5 acres and my old modem used to reach almost the entire property. This 5G one, seems to go only about 200 feet or so. Normal or is there a hardware issue?3.9KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Unhappy with Internet - Is SmartHub any different?
I switched from DSL to Smart Hub 1 year ago. The plus side, speed is much better (but no where what they claim). Download 20-25 Mbps and upload 5-10Mbps. The down side, the tower I connect to is over saturated. I typically have to reboot the Smart Hub between once to 3 times a day due to loss of internet. I work from home and require reliable internet. Fiber was installed on the poles in my rural area just before Covid hit - but Telus still has no ETA for when I can get hooked up to it. 😞4.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Horrible Internet Reliability at late/early times of the day
I second the tech support - get them to check the connection on the pole. When I had DSL/copper, I had intermittent issue from slowness to mini outages of 5 minutes or so - turned out that there was a wasp nest in the box on the pole! After that was removed, my internet was stable.3.5KViews0likes0CommentsWhy does it take so long for fiber to be available?
Fiber was installed on the poles in my area in 2019, I have been asking since then to be connected to it. Latest reply was "There isn't a Network Access Point to hook up to". I am in Spallumcheen, yes, it is rural, but there are neighbourhoods even more rural than where I am that have had fiber for several years! Come on Telus, 5G is awful.1.5KViews0likes1Comment
