Re: Telus Connect and Parental Restrictions Issues
Who knows. I couldn't even find a place to submit a helpdesk ticket. I had to physically call Telus and wait on hold nearly an hour. I ended temporarily fixing my issue after factory resetting the modem so i hung up assuming it was fixed. Then the problem came back later. My app seems to be working for now.11KViews0likes1CommentRe: Telus Connect and Parental Restrictions Issues
Yeah, the app has been busted all day. It only opens occasionally and with limited functionality. I tried opening it now and it's still down. My wifi issue might be fixed now. I quickly tested one of the ipads this morning before going to work and it loaded Youtube just fine. i'll know for sure when I get back home. I'm still amazed at what a pain this was and that Telus has no other way of dealing with the parental restriction profiles outside their broken app.11KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Telus Connect and Parental Restrictions Issues
The ipads stopped working again. I have no boosters. The steps that seemed to temporarily fix it was finally being able to get into the parental profile section of the Telus Connect app, deleting the profile, then factory resetting the modem. I had done a few power cycles on the modem earlier but no luck. Something is still going on. The ipads I had finally got working earlier now will not connect to the internet and the Telus Connect App gives me an error when opening.11KViews0likes0CommentsTelus Connect and Parental Restrictions Issues
So this is a bit frustrating. I have been using the parental restrictions on my kids ipads just fine until recently. Now these ipads just stopped working on the wifi during the day and the app won't even let me check the profiles. Every other device that is not connected to this parental restriction profile works just fine. So I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the profile. I've power cycled the modem, restarted the devices, forget the network/rejoin etc.. These things still would not get an ip address. As I write this, the app finally kicked in and let me delete the profile then after another router reboot the devices started working again. Does Telus not have any other way of managing these profiles? I logged into My Telus and also the admin panel on the modem and neither had any section to manage these profiles. If it wasn't for the app finally deciding to work again, these devices would still be not working on the wifi. I would hope Telus would know better than to have a single point of failure. I really like being able to put restrictions on my kids ipads so they're not watching Youtube at night but now i'm weary about creating any more profiles if it will randomly lock them out during the day. Edit: 2 of the device reconnected fine, 2 others did not. sigh... Edit 2: fixed by factory resetting the modem. Edit 3: Not working again...11KViews0likes10CommentsRe: Wifi Issues - Too many devices on one access point?
Good to know. I might try that next should this happen again. I just forced my phone onto the 5ghz so that I would have the best speed when using Steam Link over the wireless, but kept smart steering enabled to have 1 ssid so i didn't have to reconnect all the devices in the house. My parents downstairs have a few devices on the wifi plus my kids devices etc... couldn't be bothered, haha Since my modem has been factory reset I've left the settings on default for now.7.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Wifi Issues - Too many devices on one access point?
Update. I ended up contacting Telus support. They restarted the fibre modem and also factory reset the T3200m modem a few hours ago. So far my cell phone is still showing over 700Mbps connection so hopefully the factory reset is all that was needed. Nobody else in the house is complaining that their internet isn't working yet. If it happens again I'll setup my boost wifi kit and see if I can distribute the load among a couple more access points.7.9KViews1like4CommentsWifi Issues - Too many devices on one access point?
I currently have the gigabit fibre plan. All my wired devices have no issues and run full speed. However, I get intermittent drops in my wifi connection speed across multiple devices. Right now my cellphone is showing wifi connection speed of 6Mbps when it can normally hover around 700Mbps. I doubt it's a range issue as I'm sitting right next to the modem. I also have the modem in a pretty central part of the house so every devices shows pretty much full signal strength. There are about 9 or so devices than can be connected to the wifi, a couple cell phones, 2 ipads, 1 smart tv, 1 tv box and a couple of my parents downstairs computers. I have tried resetting the devices and resetting the Modem. Resetting sort of helps but the issues keep coming back. My modem is a T3200m. I do have a boost starter pack but have not even unboxed it yet. Should I give the booster pack a try and try spreading my devices across multiple access points?Solved7.8KViews0likes5Comments
