Any idea why the T3200 would be restricting speed?
My setup is T3200 -> Google Nest Wifi Router (3 point mesh) I have Fiber 300/300. Initially i was able to get 300/290 on Google Nest Wifi. However, in the last week or so, my speed has come down to 90/70 for some reason. I tried turn off port1 bridging. Same effect. I tried swapping out cables. Same thing. I tried hardware reset the Google Nest Wifi - same thing. I tried plugging the Google Nest Wifi in a different part of the house. I tried connecting my laptop directly to the ethernet port (still uses the cabling in the house). Got a 90/90 speed. The T3200 wireless from Telus is reporting speed of 300/290 and if i connect to their Wifi SSID, i get the same speed. Any ideas? Will try plugging my laptop directly to the T3200 to test. I could also try factory reset my T3200.. Thanks again1.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Telus Wired Internet Dropping Connection
Thank you! Found out upon digging some more that I have to chain the Google Nest Devices by wiring them directly to the LAN ports. So... ONT -> T3200 -> Port 1 Bridged / Or regular -> Google Nest 1 ---> Google Nest 2. This restricts me to have to put the Google Nest 1 close to the cabinet.3.5KViews0likes0Comments- 12KViews0likes0Comments
Re: Chromecasts Not Working on Telus Wifi Hub
Btw, i had similar issue with my original generation Chromecast as well. I never did disable Smart Steering as I didn't know about the option back then. I solved it in two ways: 1. I hard wired the Chromecast. Bought the Chromecast Ethernet Cable on Amazon ("Cable Matters Fire Stick Ethernet Adapter") for 20 dollars. All streaming problems on Chromecast went away. 2. I was still having Wifi issues in general and got a Google Nest Wifi to bypass the T3200 modem. The Google nest was fine for Chromecast, but now you have two separate networks.12KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Chromecasts Not Working on Telus Wifi Hub
To turn off Smart Steering - do this: 1. Make sure you are on the Telus wifi on your laptop/ipad. 2. After connecting to the router, open a browser and go to: http://192.168.1.254 3. Login with the user ID that's on the label on the T3200 Router (and not the extender). This will be different than your wireless access code. 4. click on "Wireless Setup" 5. Disable Smart Steering and try again12KViews0likes4CommentsTelus Wired Internet Dropping Connection
Hi, Thank you all for your help in advance. I have Fiber 300 with Optik TV. Firmware: 31.164L.18 (Not sure how to update this) The ONT is in my closet and connected to the T3200 which is also inside the closet. Cables go out from the closet to the rest of the house. I was having problems doing Zoom calls periodically on Wifi. I tried hard wiring my laptop to the T3200 and still having my connectivity drop (IP address changed from 192.168.1.x to 169.x.x.x). Things finally started to get better after I got a Google Nest Wifi AND port 1 bridged to my T3200. My connectivity has been solid now both on wired and wireless. My problem: I got a second set of Google Nest Wifi Router with a point to create a Mesh network for the whole house. When I tried to plug the second Google Nest Router into the T3200. Google's App is having problems adding my router into the existing Mesh network. So, now i basically use the second google router as a wifi access point / extender. Should I do the following? 1. Connect a switch behind Port 1 on the T3200 such that i connect both Google Nest Wifi to? ONT -> T3200 (port 1 bridged) -> Switch -> Google Nest Wifi 1 -> Google Nest Wifi 2 2. Connect a switch after the ONT ONT -> Switch -> Google Nest Wifi 1 -> Google Nest Wifi 2 -> T3200 3. Other suggestions? I can try plugging the Google Nest Wifi after the T3200 without doing the Port 1 bridging, but i was running into connectivity problems like this before enabling Port 1 bridging.
