Re: T3200M as replacement for separate MOCA adapter and switch combo
Thanks, that confirms my experience trying to use the T3200 MOCA port as a bridge. It would work as a separate router and not in bridge mode even with the Port Bridging configuration option. Too bad as it would have been so convenient to have 1 device instead of 2.1.1KViews0likes0CommentsT3200M as replacement for separate MOCA adapter and switch combo
Hi all, I'm currently using a MOCA adapter and switch combo in a secondary room to connect to my ASUS router in the main room via coax cabling. I would like to connect a third room to the same ASUS router via coax. I have a spare T3200M modem and wondering if it can be used instead of another MOCA & switch combo. If so, what should be the settings for T3200M? Ideally, I would like it to act as a bridge. I'm aware Port 1 can be set as the bridge but I would like the MOCA port to be the bridge because that's the port connected to the ASUS router via coax. Is this possible? Thanks.1.2KViews0likes2CommentsTransferring T3200M to another phone jack in same house
Hi, I'm currently on the basic Telus Internet 25 and still using the T3200M modem via the phone jack. Telus installed the model in top floor of our home many years ago. Now I want to transfer it to the ground floor where the WIFI signal can reach the basement and garage better. But before I do that and bring the entire home network offline, I did the following test. I have a spare T3200M which I connected to an active/enabled phone jack on the ground floor to see it will pick up a WAN IP address - but it wasn't able to. Is this because Telus provides only one WAN IP address? I recall they used to provide 2 IPs but that was many years ago. Also, would I need to use a ADSL/VDSL line splitter on the ground floor phone outlet? We are no longer using landline phones - so was wondering if the splitter is still needed for a clean signal. Thanks!1.9KViews0likes1CommentRe: Using a second T3200M router with Optik TV 4K box
OK, figured it out and it's quite simple. - connect the MOCA adapter to the WAN port of the 2nd T3200m - create a separate subnet on the 2nd T3200m - this will enable me to login to the 2nd T3200m like a separate router and make changes there - on the 2nd T3200m, under the Firewall setting page disable "WAN Ping block mode". This is what's causing multicast to fail on the 2nd T3200m. All other settings i.e IGMP should be the same as factory default. The Optik 4K STB connected to the 2nd T3200m is working great. The 1st T3200m connected to (Telus DSL) has the "WAN Ping block mode" enabled to maintain the default security setting of the primary router/modem.4.2KViews0likes1CommentRe: Using a second T3200M router with Optik TV 4K box
Thanks NFtoBC. The old/previous router is an Asus RT-N66U running 3rd party firmware. It is working with fine with the MOCA adapter and the Optik TV 4K box attached to it. I configured the Asus to enable IGMP snooping and the mutlicast is working fine with the TV box. So I guess that removes the MOCA adapter out as a possible cause. The reason I tried the 2nd T3200m is the better wifi range and speed over the Asus. I'm getting 433mbps max with the T3200m vs 150mbps max with the Asus. And the reason for the 2nd subnet is to mimic the same subnet defined in the Asus. How do I disable DHCP on the 2nd T3200m? I'm still puzzled why the 2nd T3200m can't function like the Asus for multicasting. The firmware version is 31.164L.18. Thanks again.4.3KViews0likes2CommentsUsing a second T3200M router with Optik TV 4K box
Hi all, I have a T3200m on one side of my home that is the connected via DSL phone jacks. A coax cable runs from this router's MOCA port to a farther side of my home. At the other end of this cable is a Telus coax-to-ethernet adapter that is connected to an old generic router. I switched this router with a second T3200m and getting an IP address from the primary T3200m either by enabling Port #1 bridging or creating a separate subnet (192.168.2.254) with the WAN port on the 2nd T3200m. This works fine with PCs and phones but when I connect an another Optik TV 4K box (wired, not wifi) to the 2nd T3200m I am getting the freeze after 15-20 seconds. I understand this is an IGMP multicast issue. Both primary and 2nd routers have IGMP Snooping Enabled. Is there any other setting on the T3200m that needs to be configured to make this setup work? Thanks!4.4KViews0likes4Comments
