Reseting a Wireless Optik TV 4K Box wifi connectio
For the life of me, My Telus Optik 4K boxes would not play my TV unless they were hardwired. I couldn't hardwire all of them due to location. All the online advice to reboot the optik tv boxes did nothing to fix the problem. The Boxes clearly show the wireless signal strength is very low, 1 to 2 bars max. I had a shaw tech recently come to my air bnb and he told me how to reset the wireless connection for my Telus Optik boxes. Step 1: go to diagnostic tools screen on the telus optik tv box - enter 01209 - enter the diagnostics menu Step 2: Go to wifi and delete wifi connection Step 3: Unplug the box, turn it back on. Make sure its not hardwire plugged in and it will prompt you to set up your wifi connection Step 4: Press wps button on the closest Telus booster (router if you have no Telus Boosts), then press okay on remote Done. Your wireless connection will show as being full bars and your Telus TV that you pay for will work flawlessly again. I can't believe for 1 year Telus couldn't tell me to do this over the phone. Contacting Telus was of no help, they told me to reboot my internet, reboot all my boxes and nothing changed My tv was choppy if it even worked. They offered to send a Tech to my house but I have to pay for the Tech. Its quite funny when you pay almost $2400 a year for Telus services, they want you to pay to fix services just for you to have the right to keep paying them $2400 a year. smh. Does anyone else know any other Diagnostic screen settings I should tinker with?1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Telus Boost better than Google Nest Wifi?
Yes I have Gigabit service. Wired I get about 940 mb/s upload and download Direct to hub Wi-Fi about 600 mb/s up and down On Telus boost Wi-Fi (hardwired) I get 350 to 420 mb/s up and down I have three hardwired boost running with the Telus Wi-Fi hub.10KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Can you use shaw cable with telus internet?
Make the last owner cancel the service, this way they foot the bill for cancellation. This move will make you a free agent and allow you to sign up for new customer promotions from either Shaw and Telus as long as you are willing to commit for 2 years on a contract. Otherwise Shaw is gonna treat you like an existing customer and make you work with existing rates, no promo's....and you lose the option to switch to a Telus EPP until the contract you assume is either complete or bought out.20KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Can you use shaw cable with telus internet?
If you have RJ45 wall outlets everywhere in the house and can hardwire plug in all your optik tv boxes, then I would say your tv service quality will be equal to Shaw. I find shaw's picture quality to be better and less compressed. I find Shaw cable PVR audio to be far superior also, especially on recorded programming. My Telus Technicolor PVR with recorded programs lose audio loudness and have to really crank the volume when watching the recorded programs. I think telus has shaw beat on internet, but Shaw remains the better choice for cable tv.20KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Can you use shaw cable with telus internet?
I have both Shaw Cable and Telus Fibre Optic internet in my house. They work fine together. Shaw uses the coax connection box and telus uses their box on the side of my house and I have no issue getting service from each. Shaw tv is far superior to optik tv because almost everyones home has a ton of coaxial connections everywhere. Shaw tv has no lag, internet or wifi dependency and works flawlessly.20KViews0likes4CommentsTelus Boost better than Google Nest Wifi?
I find that the fastest Mesh Network is the Telus Boost network, but only if you set it up properly. Equipment needed: 1x Telus Wifi Hub Modem (Arcadyan, all white model) 3 x Telus Boost Mesh Points 3x MOCA 2.0 Converters (optional if you are using Cat/lan cable) Make sure all the Telus Boost Mesh devices are hardwired, either CAT5e/6 or using MOCA 2.0 adapters. This only works with the NEW Telus Wi-fi hub gateway modem, not the OLD Actiontec T3200 modem which is not a Mesh Gateway. Telus Wifi Hub supports Moca by directly plugging in the coax cable, use a proper Holland splitter for the coaxial cables on the modem end. The new Telus Wifi Hub modem supports a mesh network and acts as the heart of your mesh network and you can use your existing Coaxial cable wires with MOCA 2.0 adapters to directly plug in your Telus Boost devices. The result: - Only 1 SSID with Band-Steering for the entire house. So only one wireless network even though you are using 4 devices. - Excellent blanket coverage of your entire house at extremely high download and upload speeds. - Each boost unit is 4x4 antenna Everything works much better, faster and efficiently then my google mesh system did and I only have 1 SSID now and not two. I have heard bad things about Telus Boost from people using Actiontec modems and wirelessly pairing some of the Boosts to the network. If you get the new Telus Wifi Hub modem, it will create a true high speed mesh network. I was skeptical at first, but Telus even has a page where they state it is better then Google Nest Wifi, so far impressed, or any I missing the point on something?11KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Pure Fibre install
I have a new house and when they came to do the fibre optic install, they said they can't lay the wire past the telus utility box. Its copper only after that point. They installed my ONT box dead square in the middle of my living room wall, and then a huge back up power box right next to it for back up battery power for my phone in case the power goes out. Its a total eye sore in a new house to have two huge boxes hanging off you walls. At night they flicker alot of green status lights which get really annoying if you want to take a nap. I really wish Telus was willing to lay wires to a more discreet spot of my house, totally regret not going with SHAW.6.6KViews0likes0Comments
