Proper IPv6 Setting for Telus Purefibre/Arcadyn Hub?
Hey All, I got a new ASUS Zenwifi Xt8 router and I was hoping to enable IPv6 to take full advantage. Asus tell customers to reach out to their ISP to determine the IPv6 'Connection Type' to set the corresponding router settings properly, and they list types as PPPoE, Automatic IP, Static IP etc (see article here: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/113990/) Last night I randomly tried PPPoE (And corresponding router setting "native") and using test-ipv6.com it seemed like that was working, but I wanted to be sure, so today I reached out to Telus Support. The Person I spoke to said that I should be using 'Automatic IP' so I changed the Asus Router Settings to the appropriate mode for that connection type ("Passthrough"). While I still have internet access, now when I runt he same IPv6 Tests I get all sorts of errors ("No IPv6 Address Detected"). Can anyone advise as to what setting I should be selecting on my router?3.1KViews0likes0CommentsHow to Replace Telus Boost with 3rd Party Mesh System - With Telus Fiber 150 (Optic)
Hey all, I have Telus Optic FIbre Service with both TV/Internet and I'm currently using the Arcadyan Modem and 2 Telus Boosters to create a Mesh Network. I've been having issues though with system reliability, with slow speeds and devices regularly getting dropped. I'm planning to buy an Eero Mesh (3 node) setup from a friend and install that. I guess I'm a bit confused though with how to set it up.... My ONT is in my (detached) garage, then routed via Ethernet cable to the current Router in my basement. Do I need to keep the Arcadyan router and then hook up the Eero router in series with it, turning off the signal from the Arcadyan Router; or can I disconnect the Arcadyan router altogether and plug the EEro router into the ethernet cable coming from the ONT? (I assume not - I assume my Optic TV boxes need the signal from the Telus router?) ANy advice is appreciated...obviously this isn't my wheelhouse, as you can probably tell 😛5.1KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Telus Boost Network Connection Dropping on iPhone XR and MacBook Pro
Funny enough - I read about the idea of shutting off the 5G bands this morning and decided to give it a try. It takes a bit of fighting with the web interface to get both 5G Bands offline, but thus far it seems to work. I'm slowly going around my house and reconnecting my smart devices to the Wifi with the 5G off. Oddly, the cheap devices haven't been giving me much trouble....the Wemo ones (which you'd expect to be more polished?) aren't fairing as well.... oh well. I'm at least hopeful at this point that I'll get everything up and running soon!15KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Telus Boost Network Connection Dropping on iPhone XR and MacBook Pro
Got the Arcadyan router today and thus far my wifi connection seems to be better (fingers crossed).... one thing I'm not sure about was connection to my smart devices.... on my last router I had to have a 2.4Ghz network set up for some of my older wifi devices to connect to. The technician told me he didn't think I'd have to change anything as he said the Arcadyan router would broadcast both 5G and 2.4G, but I seem to be having problems getting those devices to connect now. Logging into the router as an admin it *seems* as if there is a 2.4 GHz signal up and running (there is a page that says WLAN 2.4Ghz Radio Enabled)...... anyone have any idea what I need to do? There is a Page that says "Smart Device Network" - SSID Enable? (Disabled at present)... could this have something to do with it?20KViews0likes6Comments
