Latency spikes to first hop
Good morning. The short version is that I'm experiencing large spikes in latency to the first hop past my modem. Below is the output of WinMTR. Host % Sent Recv Best Avrg Wrst Last router.lan 0 3080 3080 0 0 0 0 10.139.48.1 0 3073 3073 3 23 949 4 154.11.12.219 0 3071 3071 26 46 947 27 74.125.50.110 0 3072 3072 26 46 929 27 108.170.245.113 0 3074 3074 30 48 961 31 209.85.242.39 0 3074 3074 26 44 972 26 dns.google 0 3072 3072 26 45 989 26 Hardware is a (bridged) ActionTec T3200M connected to a MikroTik RB4011. PC is connected to that by ethernet. Issue persists when PC is connected directly to modem (PC has WAN IP), issue also persists with the wife's PC in both of the mentioned configurations. Symptoms are webpages often (~30% page loads) taking 30+ seconds to load, hanging at "establishing SSL/TLS connection". Online games randomly disconnect multiple times per hour and have severe rubberbanding when connected. VOIP often takes a "robotic" tone or sentences get lost. My VPN complains of 15%+ packet loss. Troubleshooting steps taken: Rebooted/power cycled/factory reset everything PC hooked directly to bridged modem Router replaced Modem replaced Traceroute from VPS in Quebec to my home connection in AB show the same spikes - the issue goes both directions. Any advice is appreciated, I'm at my wits' end. Two 45 minute long calls to telus and a repair tech visit and they all say eveything looks fine to them, but they all seem confused when I mention "traceroute" or "hops".Solved5KViews0likes3Comments
