Wifi 6 boosters
Hi I currently have 2 wifi 6 booster and a wifi mini booster in a 4000SF house. Coverage is mostly okay. Because I don't have fiber in the house then ran it through coax. So I have a splitter and one coax to the Booster on the main floor and one in the basement and the mini booster upstairs. Both the Wifi 6 boosters have coax running into them. If I wanted to add another one, does it have to run off of coax also? Would it be like coax from fiber to 3 way splitter? ThanksSolved1.7KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Connect App - Not connected to Home Network
Hi After 2 years I finally got Fiber Optik 500/500. They put 2 wifi6 plus hot spots and one booster. They won't show up in my app. I had them change the SSID and password on the backend so my devices would connect. They said they should automatically show up after a few days, but of course nothing. Then when I phoned again, they said there is something wrong with the app and I will have to wait? Is there any way to manually add them? Or connect to them to change the SSID and password without the app? 2nd question. When they came to install I asked if I could just use my old Telus Wifi extenders but the tech said he was going to just install the new boosters. Not realizing that I would be charged 10.00/month for wifi plus. I told them if it was not a requirement I would like it cancelled and removed, but if they did that would I lose wifi. They said they would cancel but I wouldn't lose wifi. So I see people are selling these wifi6 boosters on Facebook. Can I just purchase and add them and be done in order to get wifi6 plus?7.6KViews0likes1CommentUsing different wifi access point
Hi Couple of questions and I hope I can explain myself correctly. Currently since my move from Fibre optic to an older house that the best I can get is the T3200 and copper 150/30, I have been using the Wifi booster, but are not happy with the cover. The house is around 4200s/f and there is no hard wired ethernet except for a couple of rooms. So I have 4 of these Telus Wifi boosters. One is wired in the same room as the modem as one has to be wired. One is downstairs (hardwired) in my media room, one in the main floor living room and one upstairs. I was wanting to try a new Deco X75 Pro Tri-band modem. Currently I have it connected to a switch which is connected to the modem. I labelled the wifi a different ssid to test coverage. So far on one unit I get full wifi bars everywhere on the main floor and upstairs. So I can put another one downstairs and end up having just 2 units. My question if I wanted to use the Deco as a modem and put the Telus modem into bridge mode, do the other 3 ports on the Telus modem stop working? So whatever I put into those ports would have to now get plugged into another switch? Or is it better just to use the Deco as a wifi access point? If I do that and unplug the wifi boosters, is there a way to have devices not connect to the built in wifi of the Telus modem itself and connect to the Deco access points. Or are devices smart enough to try to connect to the strongest signal? Also, if I do use as access point, then do I lose the Mesh benefits? I wanted to use the 6E backhaul to get ethernet to a PC. Thanks for any replies.Solved4.7KViews0likes3CommentsEero mesh or another solution
Hi Just moved to another house. Previous house had networking throughout and I was on fiber optik. Now this house doesn't have networking throughout but does have coax in some spots. Also no fiber optik so on copper. Currently my office is hardwired on the main floor and the modem is in the office. They have managed to get a hardwired network connection downstairs to the wiring closet where the services come in I have attached a switch to be able to attach a wifi extender. So I have 4 of the Wifi extenders. This seems to work well so far. 4 of the TV's are wireless and 2 are hard wired. I haven't had a chance to test the wireless tv boxes, but the signal seems to be strong so don't expect issues. My problem is my son in the basement is in a corner where there is no coax or ethernet. Currently I have a long network cable running to his PC from the switch in the basement. I want to get rid of the cable. My thoughts we perhaps getting the 2 node Eero, plugging it into the switch and then putting the other unit by his desk which is around 25ft and then using the ethernet port to plug into his PC. I don't need the Eero to run the wireless network just to be able to get wired network to his pc. I figure the cost of a good wireless card for his PC would cost about the same. I would appreciate all and any suggestions for the best solution. Thanks3.7KViews0likes2CommentsInternet using Eero
Okay this will be a rather long question, but would appreciate any suggestions. I am moving from a house that has cat 5 outlets in every room to a house that has no cat 5. It does have coax to all the TV's and I understand they can use MOCA adapters to get me network. My services all come into the basement and then the coax is distributed to the TV's. Most TV's will have a coax but placement of some will not. So was hoping that the wifi was good enough to accomplish the task for those that don't. I have the new Telus modem (round one) and 4 wifi extenders. Downstairs where my son will have his PC (tower) there will be no coax. So I thought perhaps that if I used Eero 6 mesh that one of the units could be in the closet. The other by his desk (probably about 20ft away) and he could use the network ports to get good internet to his PC. But then I was reading that perhaps the wireless TV's won't work with the Eero. (something about multicast). So was wondering can I just plug the Eero into a port on the Telus modem and have it work? He doesn't need to be on the same network as the rest of the house, he just needs good stable internet. And if the Eero doesn't work for Telus IPTV then I need both wireless networks in order for the TV cable box to work wirelessly? Anyways, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I have done that now, but what I wanted to is to block them accessing resources on the T3200 from the other router. T3200 on subnet 1 ASUS router on subnet 2 Even though I can't see resources like the NAS on subnet 1 through network discovery from subnet 2 I can still get to them if I know the IP.8.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Using 2nd wifi router as Guest Wifi
Thanks for the suggestion. Won't work for me. The T3200 is in the basement where the network dist center is. My office and 2nd wifi router is on the main floor. If I bridge LAN1 I use the only network connection to my office to connect to the 2nd wifi router. I have about 10 devices running in my office hard wired, including optik TV so I would lose connection to the rest of the LAN on the T3200. But appreciate the suggestion. For now I think I will just set up the 2nd wifi router as the guest access and though they can get to other resources on the T3200, they can't see them, they would need to know the IP. And for the most part, it's only friends and family who use it when they come over. T3200 is on subnet 1 and the ASUS wifi router is on subnet 2 Is there a way to put a firewall rule in the T3200 to block resources on subnet 1 other than internet? Thanks8.1KViews0likes0Comments
