Re: What are my theme packs?
I think the 4 packs are the # of theme packs that come with your main TV package, so you have 4 selections --- my pack has 4 themes and 1 premium option. The interface could be better. I also had the Living theme pack with the new Home and Flavour channels (missing Magnolia now). Rogers Media created and launched new versions of Discovery, ID, HGTV, Magnolia, and Food which is what is on free preview now. The difference seems to be that the new Rogers versions seem to have some new episodes that are from the US version of HGTV/Food, while Home and Flavour have both prior seasons from the US HGTV/Food, all Canadian filmed shows, and some new things that were never on HGTV/Food before.... There doesn't seem to be a lot of new stuff on the Rogers HGTV/Food, seems like endless repeats of House Hunter and Dinners/Drive-ins/Dives, so hopefully they get more new content as I'm really not noticing a difference and am leaning towards keeping my current theme pack for the Canadian content.889Views0likes0CommentsRe: Discovery, HGTV etc.. now free preview?
Thanks for this, I agree USA network is NOT Discovery, but I do like Oxygen over Investigation Discovery and Flavour Network over Food Network - it's great that we can compare now that everything is in free preview. I do worry that TELUS adding all these channels likely came at some cost which will be ultimately passed onto us. I actually added Discovery+ so wasn't really missing any of the american content, I'll probably drop Discovery+ soon though as I can't really stomach watching (and supporting) anything american these days.2.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: HGTV
Thanks, I don't see it on ABC, but will set my recordings to record the newest episodes so I'll be covered either way. 1 week in, HGTV and Home seem like the same channel --- HGTV seems to be airing as much repeat content as Home, so it could come down to which one costs me less ... I'm leaning towards keeping what I have as it also has Flavour which I find way better than Food.5.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Canceled channels
Agreed --- seems like USA network replaces some of the newer discovery stuff with wrestling and repeats of old dramas, although it still had some stuff that was on Discovery but not 100% the same. Glad to see that Discovery is back today, hopefully Rogers doesn't muck it up and make it worst than it was before (I just got Discovery+, so I'll have to decide which I want, looking at the program grid for Discovery channel doesn't show anything that I can't get on Discovery+).8.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Canceled channels
Yeah, some of the US content is missing on the new renamed channels. I did what someone suggested on this forum and just added Discovery+ and it seems to have all the same content that was on Discovery and Magnolia and more episodes than what I had before. The only thing missing is a live feed that I can just keep on in the background while I cook (unless I'm looking in the wrong place).9.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: HGTV
I think these are the new channels that Rogers owns. Now I can compare Home Network vs HGTV, so far they seem the same, although HGTV is missing all the new stuff that is on Home Network (I can't find Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on HGTV). I also hope some of the Canadian stuff that Corus owns gets on the network as I don't want to support a 100% American channel, especially one owned by Ed Rogers who is a friend of Trump....6.8KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Canceled channels
You are wrong, the renamed channels for HGTV and Food (I think they are called Home and Flavour) still have non-Canadian content, and some new stuff that I never saw on the network before. I actually like Flavour better than it was before as I can now watch Gordon Ramsay and Guy Fieri without having to change channels. I actually hope TELUS doesn't launch Rogers' channels as all it will do is increase their costs which will be passed onto us. We can already get this stuff on Discovery+4.9KViews0likes0Comments
