PrimeVideoBlueBG.jpg

November is here already, friends! There's nothing better than kicking back after a great day and checking out that new movie your coworkers keep talking about, or checking out the latest episodes of your favourite series. Prime Video is the place to be for both, and next month brings a slew of great new content to dig into, and I can't wait!

As you may know, Prime Video is part of the Optik TV experience, and the Prime Video app is also on the Optik TV 4K media box as well. It's never been easier to sign up! There's always great new original content available, not to mention a ton of classic movies and shows to check out! Let's dive in!

Coming to Prime Video in November

  • November 4 - My Policeman
    • Highly anticipated drama starring Harry Styles surrounding forbidden relationships in the 1950's.
  • November 11 - The English
    • An epic chase Western series starring Emily Blunt as she embarks on a dangerous mission to a strange new town.

Most Anticipated

The English

This looks fantastic. I'm a huge fan of the Western genre, from classic movies like Unforgiven to new modern hits such as Yellowstone. These tales often stand out for their top tier cinematography, a stellar cast, and most importantly...a compelling story. Lucky for us, The English looks to knock it out of the park for all three. Emily Blunt stars in this compelling series about an aristocratic Englishwoman who, with an ex-cavalry scout, must cross a violent landscape fraught with peril. Their ultimate goal is to get to a new town in Wyoming...thinking that it will be the start of a fresh new beginning; a new lease on life. When they arrive, it's anything but.

That looks amazing. I always love shows and movies that are well-known, both in style and genre, but that subvert expectations and throw you a crazy twist. I almost get a surreal horror vibe out of this trailer, and to say it has me excited would be an understatement. The landscape looks gorgeous, and I can't wait to see just what awaits these characters in this strange new town. Look for The English on Prime Video when it drops November 11.

The Peripheral (Season 1)

We're only one episode into this sci-fi series and I'm already completely hooked. I'm a huge sci-fi and William Gibson fan (seriously, track down his book Neuromancer if you want to check out one of the best cyberpunk stories ever written)...and I was hoping this series based on one of his novels lived up to the hype. Well, it has. This show is intense, and with a story that has more twists and turns than you could imagine, you'd be wrong to not give it a chance. It's also from the team that brought us the modern classic series Westworld so you know you're in for something special.

The Peripheral takes place in the near future, with Flynne Fisher (Chloe Grace Moretz) helping care for her brother who sustained brain trauma from cybernetic implants he received while serving in the Marine Corps. When he asks her to take his place working security virtually (think VR goggles) for a Colombian company, she agrees. When she does so, she realizes that what she's seeing in the virtual world looks a lot like reality...and when she witnesses someone die, she questions what is really happening. Is this really happening? Is what she's seeing in the present or the future?

This is heady stuff, and with enough action to scratch that itch as well! The second episode drops on Friday October 28, with new episodes every Friday through to the season finale in early December. Don't miss it!
