The Umbrella Academy (Season 4)
Finally, the smash hit series returns for a final season! The Umbrella Academy returns in August, seeing the Hargreeves squaring off for a final battle against a mysterious association known as The Keepers. I can't wait to see what unfolds in this final season which takes place six years after the reset and how the Hargreeves will stand a chance without their powers. The Umbrella Academy continues to be one of the freshest, and most fun comic book series on television today, with a stellar cast and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing.
For the uninitiated, The Umbrella Academy is set in a universe where 43 women around the world simultaneously give birth in 1989, though none of them showed any signs of pregnancy. These children all have some kind of super power, so a billionaire, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, adopts seven of them and turns them into The Umbrella Academy. These young superheroes have to deal with facing their own existence as well as stopping the world from an impending apocalypse. Talk about pressure!
If you're a fan of quirky comic book action then look no further. You still have time to catch up as all seasons are currently streaming on Netflix, and get ready for the fourth and final season when it drops August 8th only on Netflix!
What I'm Watching Now
The Mole (Season 2)
Imagine my surprise when, without much notice, the second season of the great reality series The Mole showed up in my recommendations on Netflix! Of course I had to dig right back in, and I'm happy to report that it's just as campy and fun as the first season! The Mole originally ran around 20 years ago and then a few years back it was revived on Netflix, so naturally I was pumped. The Mole is a reality game show series where a dozen strangers are gathered to compete in a series of trials and games to win money. Every successful win deposits more in the collective pot that the winner will solely acquire at the end of the season. The only catch: one of the twelve contestants is 'The Mole'. A double agent, actually working for the show itself. Their mission? To sabotage the missions as much as possible and ensure that the other 11 real contestants win as little as possible.
This is perfect summer evening viewing. Campy, fun, and with enough intrigue to keep you guessing and wondering who the mole really is. A lot of strategy comes into play here; the mole knows they can't be too obvious in their sabotage to keep their identity a secret. It definitely doesn't take too long for all the contestants to instantly start suspecting everyone, which only adds to the fun. Both seasons are now streaming on Netflix and if you're looking for a super fun series to kick back with, look no further!
