Re: Issues with IP addresses not being assigned
The device that assigns IPs would be the Telus modem so I am assuming it stops assigning IPs after a certain amount of devices are connected to the network. I will have to troubleshoot some more but let me know if you figure anything out. I may have to go into the Telus modem settings to poke around.5.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Issues with IP addresses not being assigned
I've tried troubleshooting the outlet however it doesn't look like it is the outlet or cables. The network is fine if I remove the switch at the outlet and just have the Telus wireless AP plugged into the outlet. The problem only occurs when I have the switch plugged into the outlet and the Telus AP plugged into the switch. Perhaps the Telus modem stops assigning IP addresses after a certain amount of devices are connected to the network?5.4KViews0likes1CommentIssues with IP addresses not being assigned
I am having issues with IP addresses not being assigned when I have a switch plugged in at a specific outlet. The issue doesn't occur right away, the network will be fine for a day or two, sometimes weeks but eventually the network will stop assigning IP addresses and all devices that are connected via WiFi (sometimes hard-wired devices as well) will not have internet. I've tried swapping to another switch (same model) that I purchased to test if the previous one was faulty at that outlet but the problem persists. When the issue first started occurring, I called Telus support and we were able to identify which device was causing the problem but could not come up with a solution or identify why it is happening. They've only suggested to stop using a switch there however I have a few devices (TV, Xbox, Nintendo) at that location (First floor, main TV area) that I would like to connect via hard-wire. The switch in question is this one: https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-TL-SG105-1000Mbps-Desktop-Gigabit/dp/B00A128S24?th=1 My current network set up is here: https://imgur.com/a/QPuxwLK My house is wired with fibre and I use a 16 port switch plugged in at the modem in the garage which connects to all the outlets in the house. This is the 16 port switch that I am currently using: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00PVE7MY2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s02?ie=UTF8&th=1 This is my Telus modem: https://imgur.com/a/NFM8kYj and this is my Telus wireless AP by the main TV: https://imgur.com/a/fygaOK3 In case it may help, this is the wireless AP on the second floor: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01LFSDZCU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Right now the living room outlet is plugged into my land line and wireless AP but I would prefer it if I could have my TV hard-wired as I like to stream 4K content. Any ideas on how to fix this?7.9KViews2likes12Comments
