ECB6200 Necessary?

Hey guys,Is it necessary for me to utilize the ecb6200 adapter or can I simply connect the telus 4k box directly via ethernet?

Thank you.Odd as to why the technician would bother with the adapter as there's an ethernet wall plate next to the coax connection. 1ft ethernet cable from the router to the ethernet panel and another from the ethernet wall plate to the telus box.
