If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that gaming with your friends and family is a great way to pass the time. While we’re all doing what we can to stay safe, it can be hard to connect and find things to do that both you and your kids can enjoy together. Fortunately, there are a ton of awesome games that can help with that. Let’s take a look at some games that are perfect for staying connected and having fun!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
If you have a Nintendo Switch, then there’s a good chance you know all about Animal Crossing. Quite possibly the most fun way to pass the time I can recall in recent years, this social simulation game is perfect for staying connected with the ones you love.
An open-ended sim that you can fully build, customize, share, and play games in. Go fishing, create the perfect house, play games with each other. It’s the perfect way to share and enjoy playing together, and the fun is endless!
Overcooked 2
Not much needs to be said about Overcooked 2 other than it being impossible to not have a blast. Create the perfect culinary masterpiece in this co-op (up to 4 players) simulation that’ll have you yelling ‘Order up!’
This game is so over the top that my wife and I can’t stop, with moving floors, portals, and other crazy events in the kitchen, the fun never stops.
Jackbox Party Games 3
A personal favorite of mine, the Jackbox Party Game series was made for the situation we find ourselves in now, and for those savvy enough, it can be played virtually if you’ve got friends or family that are in different locations. One person starts the game lobby, is given a 4 letter room code, and everyone else goes to the Jackbox.tv website on their phone to enter the code and join in the game!
If the host streams the lobby from their Twitch channel, people can play no matter where they are! This is perhaps a bit on the adult-oriented side, but there are options to make it more family friendly if you’ve got the kids around! These games always leave us and our friends laughing!
Splatoon 2
Have a child that wants to play a shooter style game, but Call of Duty: Warzone may be a bit much? Look no further than Splatoon 2. Perfect for any age, this third person shooter between the Inklings and Octolings that use colored ink as ammo! It’s like the craziest paintball game you’ve ever seen!
This game is beyond addicting, and perfect to play with your kids. With stylized colors and graphics, your kids will be sure to have a great time letting the paint fly!
Minecraft
The granddaddy of all sandbox sims, Minecraft is the Lego of our generation. There isn’t a better game to help your kids learn spatial awareness, teamwork, and working together towards a goal. There’s a reason this is the best-selling video game of all time. The world is literally open to play in, build, craft, and explore.
You may find yourself lost in the world of Minecraft for hours, finding new things to build and places to see. What better way to pass the time while physically distancing than to create a world of your own!
