the action of the channel UP/DOWN buttons on remote control seem to be "upside down"... I'm guessing that it's not just me
in most remotes I've ever used, pushing the UP button would switch to the next channel up *as it would appear in the online guide*
online channel guides always start at the lowest channel number, then increase as you navigate down in the guide... so when you navigate while in the guide (using the joystick buttons), it's straightforward: up goes up, down goes down
but with the Telus Pik remote, pushing the channel UP button goes to the next higher *channel number*, which is the next position down in the guide! -- ie., the exact opposite of what a user is expecting and thus it's "upside down"
I've tried to get used to it, but just can't...
by any chance this can be reversed/corrected in the next update for the Telus remote control?
anyone else?
thank you!

I can't believe no one else is chiming in on this
I've been using Pik TV for 2-3 weeks now, and this quirk is driving me CRAZY
I simply cannot get used to it, and really hope that Telus re-programs the remote so that the channel up/down action is consistent with that of the onscreen guide... anything other than this simply does not make sense!
thanks

It takes about 30 days to form a new habit. You're nearly there!

Can you use the navigation buttons to move around the guide instead of the channel buttons?

Yes, you can.

yes you can use the navigation buttons to move around in the guide, and in fact that's exactly how you do it
for example:
- CBC: right at the very top in the guide > use the "up" navigation button to get up there
- CNN: much further down (roughly in the middle) > use the "down" navigation button to get down there
then, start watching TV...
say you are on CNN and want to switch channels, perhaps up to CTV News, or maybe eventually up to CBC.........
so, intuitively, you will press the Channel UP button on the remote, and guess what, you are now going UP in channel numbers, ie., DOWN in the guide!
*** most people will be visualizing the guide in their heads, so going "down" is precisely the opposite action of what the user wanted
I've used several remotes and onscreen guides in my life, and none of them work in this way, because it does not make sense and will interfere with the user's intuitive understanding of how the remote works, and thus the usability
I now have to remember each time I go to use the channel buttons: "down means up" and "up means down"
should take someone about 5 minutes to alter a few lines of code, and presto, the remote usability will be much improved
that's all I'm saying and hoping for..............

hey, whatever works for you... I guess everyone thinks differently
personally, I don't really care about this remote behaviour AT ALL, compared to how much I am desperately wanting a fix for the Pik TV system in general, as per this thread:
