Pik tv box jailbroken😫

I love that telus came up with this and i rented a movie tonight and it is telling me the box is jailbroken ? Why did telus sell me that for 100$ half of the features are unuseable can i take it back??

What movie did you rent using the PikTV device? Did you rent a movie within the PikTV app or another app downloaded from google play?

Sorry i didnt reply fast sleeping lol i used telus on demand i dont have a google account also im on my phone and there is no option to post a photo but it says playback not enabled on jailbroken devices

Some Android phones report as jail broken, even though the owner has not done so. HTC is one brand I recall using a customized version of Android, but there are others. This same issue occurred for those using the Optik Go App as well, so it has been occurring for some time.

Care to explain stepwise what you did?

Bought the box followed set up logged in then browsed for a movie went to rent and thats how i found out it was jail broken as it said playback not allowed on jailbroken device

Are you seeing the jailbroken message on the phone or the TV? If TV, was it just a movie you tried ordering?

Tv and i dunno how to upload photos here and seen a few messages about jailbroken and also how i am not connected to internet when i am but telus is replacing my box they said this shouldnt happen period

The PikTV isn't "jail broken" it's a certified android tv device. One of the few in consumer production. How/why you get that message is strange. Sure Telus will debug that device once returned.

UPDATE!!!

Telus sold me a demo version accidently and thats why thes measages were coming up and i couldnt get full features also they gave me a brand new one 🙂

I'm unable to reproduce your experience. On Demand movies play fine for me.

I have logged in with a Google account, though.
