Pik TV is now on Apple TV

Hey Neighbours, some exciting news! We're dedicated to providing you with new and exciting features that make streaming live TV better and easier. Our latest milestone puts Pik TV for the first time on Apple TV, providing an overall enhanced viewing experience without the need for additional hardware.

Here's some info on how to watch Pik TV on your Apple TV.

1) Start watching live TV on your Apple TV

Using your Apple TV 4K or any 4th generation Apple TV device, simply download the Pik TV app and login using your My TELUS credentials.

2) On Demand purchases

Currently, On Demand purchases are unavailable via the Pik app on Apple TV. We're working hard to enable this feature. In the meantime, you can easily make On Demand purchases through your browser or any Android device. In addition, you are still able to watch already purchased assets on your Apple devices.

3) Having issues with your Apple TV?

TELUS does not support hardware issues for Apple TV. For Apple TV related issues, please contact Apple directly or visit support.apple.com/en-ca.

finally, I can consolidate all my viewing on Apple TV.

Question: does the Pik app play nice with the Apple TV app?

Community Power User

@PBA  not right now, perhaps they will in a later update.  The tv app is pretty useless imho.

@kjb86  Running on ATV the UI is much more smooth and responsive. Picture quality is really good even on hockey. The guide is also vastly improved over it’s android counterpart.

As long as on your home (Telus) connection, you won’t consume data.

Is it 100% confirmed that using the Pik TV app on Apple TV to watch live TV, will NOT count towards your data cap?

@AaronY I hope someone answered your question before I did, but it does not count against your Internet usage as long as you're at home on your TELUS HSIA network.

PikTV on the Apple TV works the same as PikTV device itself:

 From The PikTV site:

Does watching Pik TV count towards my internet data allowance?

Because Pik TV is an IPTV service, watching live and On Demand TV through the Pik media box is separate from your internet service and will not count towards your data usage. At home, watching Pik TV live or VOD content with the Pik TV media box is included with your Pik TV subscription. However, use of apps – including Netflix – on the Pik TV media box will use your internet data. Away from home, data usage charges also may apply (emphasis mine).

@WestCoasterBC the tv app can actually be really handy for consolidating shows and movies from all the different apps on your ATV into one place. I find it very useful and hope PikTV gets integrated eventually.

Regardless, it’s great to hear that PikTV is working well on the ATV. I’ll be signing up ASAP!

I like the guide there. Wonder if that UI could grow on the Android one... How well does on demand work?

The inability to rent movies through the App was a bit of a pain, but there are, of course, the full select of iTunes video to peruse.

On demand was otherwise comparable to the PikTV device. I found it smooth, and recommend it to anyone owning or considering an ATV.
