Logitech Harmony Remote and Pik TV Box

rageguy

The remote that comes with the Pik TV box is a Bluetooth remote, however the Pik TV box appears to have an IR receiver as well. Is it possible to use a Logitech Harmony remote to control it? Currently the Harmony database does not have the box but I'm thinking it could fall in a different brand/model?

is the maker and model number that works with piktv box..

I used the LG Harmony 665 remote but I'm sure the 650 works too.. 665 is just the black one from best buy.. I think it's the same..

In the my harmony app..

For the back button I made it learn the command, because the default was exit..  So to do that you go to devices, click on the Arcadyan dvr (it calls it a dvr) then click on add commands and you can have it relearn commands there or add new ones,, I added the pik tv button and the on demand buttons..

Also to get the remote from telus to work with IR so you can learn the very few missing buttons..  All I did was unplug the pik tv so the power was off.. and then took out one battery from the remote, and then put it back in..  When I tested the remote buttons they then flashed red (indicating IR mode) rather than green which is the bluetooth mode..

You don't have to unpair the remote, just take out the power from the piktv box and battery out and in on the remote..

After learning I plugged power into the piktv. it booted up and after hitting a few buttons on the telus piktv remote it went back to bluetooth mode.

In the end now I've got the harmony remote working for my sound bar with piktv. and also modes for my bluray player and smart tv and apps..

I love this remote,,  I may get a second one while they are on sale.

What harmony remote do you own?

The Harmony 650, so I'm limited to IR. I don't have the Hub either. Was hoping that since there appears to be an IR receiver on the Pik TV box, perhaps it can understand IR signals. 😕

I haven't been able to get the harmony remote to control the PikTV box

I have gotten the Harmony to learn the IR commands. If you unpair the remote and make sure the Pik TV box is off then the remote functions in IR mode (you should see a red light flash when you press a button instead of green). This worked for every button except the power which is unfortunate. I am still trying to find a solution to the power because I would like that toggled when I switch between activities.

So if your PikTV box is off the remote will function in IR mode. I was able to learn all commands on the remote except for the power command. In order to get the power to work I had to resort to using a flirc (https://www.flirc.tv/)

With flirc I was able to map an HID code to another IR command. It took a bit of searching but I found the code that worked for power and this is the command to map it on the flirc device.

I guess you bought the Flirc USB and plugged it to your Pik TV box?

I already had the flirc usb device, but yes it is plugged into the pik tv box. Every other button on the pik tv remote I was able to learn with the harmony remote but I needed to use the flirc for the power toggle.

Best Buy has the Logitech Harmony Smart Control on sale for Black Friday. It does Bluetooth and IR in the form of a central Harmony Home Hub. I'll pick it up and if this works with our box, I'll let you know.

That is the device I have and it doesn’t work. The Bluetooth commands aren’t in the database for this device.

Hi Neighbour,

What Device Manufacturer and Device Model Number did you add to your Harmony remote's device list so the Pik TV would understand the IR codes, except for the on / off?

Thanks,

Rodders

I believe he did a manual learn. In other words, record each remote press. It's a super tedious process. http://support.logitech.com/en_ca/article/9605?product=a0qi00000069uzZAAQ

Which Harmony remote model were you able to get working with PikTV box?

Were you able to get PikTV power on/off function to work as well with the Harmony 665?

I'll have to keep an eye out for a sale can't justify $100.

I too got the Harmony 650 working.  Even the power toggle.  I had to learn a few commands like Home, On Demand, Back.

However, I have problems where it seems to send double commands.  I tried reducing switch in the remote software (sorry can't remember what it's called) but still it happens.  A little annoying but at least it turns on/off all my connected devices.
