I am inclined to purchase PikTV when and if Telus does away with packaged / bundled prices for premium tv and sports channels such as HBO, and offers these channels individually at a more affordable rate. Has Telus given any consideration to this?

Most of those specialty channels force bundling and the CRTC is still allowing it. This is outside of Telus' control.

As it says on the Optik channel page for HBO and it's bundle:

  1. Due to requirements set by the content providers, TMN and HBO Canada, Superchannel, TSN 1, 3, 4, 5, Sportsnet and SporstnetONE, will always be bundled together and cannot be offered as individual channels.

Yeah, Bell Canada owning the rights to those channels. It's a money grab.

Good news coming our way. I just hope Telus will chose to provide these services individually at a affordable price. I will continue my boycott on cable services until one of my providers provide me with this option.

That means that from that point on, it will be up to these content owners to sell these feeds separately if they wish.

So guess what Bell is likely going to do. I'm guessing they'll keep them bundled since they aren't being forced to unbundle them.
