Hi, Just wondered if this port can be used for a hard wire ethernet connection such as xbox or similar? Would it be a problem?

You will not be able to use the port to connect another device.

I see. What is it for, out of curiosity?

So you can connect it to your ethernet network if too far to work properly on Wi-Fi, or you want a more certain connection.

The Ethernet connection will be faster and won't compete with your other WiFi devices. All 3 my Optik boxes are hardwired and I never have any issues with slow WiFi when the Optik boxes are being used (watching and recording).
