Optik box activation

AfterThoughts
Just Moved In
I have the IPV5050. I think my box is faulty because the TV system goes down very frequently, and the ethernet connection disconnects also frequently. I have to unplug and plug it back in for the ethernet connection to work again. I am thinking of purchasing a used one from someone else. Would I be able to use it right away, or is there some sort of activation process to connect it to an account? My landlord is the account holder.

Are there newer models, or do I need to buy the same one? Could I get and use a PVR?

Probably the best option would be to get your landlord to arrange to get the box replaced.

I believe any new box will require activation from Telus. This can be done over the phone. Not sure what the wait times are like right now. I got a replacement box a few months ago and it took about an hour to get this done (mostly waiting to talk to someone).

Thank you.

I've mentioned it to him before but he doesn't seem to want to replace it, which is why I'm considering getting one myself. I'll try bringing it up to him again.

Perhaps your landlord doesn't realize the replacement is free.
