Crave Downloading Offline

Rocko604

Noticed the Crave app allows downloading to watch offline, however when I try to download, I'm greeted with a "Unfortunately, your TV provider is not supporting this feature. Please call your provider to ask for this feature."

So, is Telus going to be providing us with download access, or do I have to subscribe to Crave separately to get this feature?

Crave (basically Bell Canada) is being shady, again. They always pull stuff like this. Reading through their FAQ basically says the direct subscription plans do not vary from the ones through TV service providers with the exception of billing. The FAQ says nothing about getting the providers to allow downloads. It just says they're available. Their FAQ or help pages also doesn't have any information on the error that pops up on the mobile app when trying to download content. Even Bell's press release mentions nothing about restrictions on downloads.

I've submitted another complaint to Crave and will let you know what they say.

Bell being shady? Get outta town!

I've sent Crave a message as well to see what they say.

FWIW, I had a friend who has Crave through Shaw try downloading, and they did with no problems. I can't see Crave freezing out one of BC's two cable providers but not the other.

Spoke to Crave. This issue is on Telus' end. Apparently Telus did not support offline viewing as part of their contract with Crave.

Good job, Telus. Piracy is it.

You realize that is simply doublespeak for Crave wanting more $$ for the option than Telus felt had value?

Didn't seem to be a problem for Shaw. Then again, neither does them upgrading Internet 150 and 300 to 300 and 600 respectively for free, and here I am stuck with Internet 50 for the foreseeable future if I stay with Telus.

For a good number of things 50 is still very usable. I'm cruising along with a crazy fast 25mbps! ^_^

Also Crave and the Bell Media contact person from the press release still have yet to respond to my inquiries.

The CRTC doesn't have anything to do with Crave, streaming services or one tiny feature of that streaming service. The scope of what the CRTC actually deals with is actually quite limited.
